Will - Father's* | 15 October 1616 | Gilbert was named in his father's will on 15 October 1616. The will of Gilbert Jones the father, (Mary's father-in-law--cm) dated 15 Oct 1616 and proved 11 Jan 1617 (Montgomeryshire Coll. 21:170) shows that his youngest son Gilbert was old enough to be named executor. The younger Gilbert, of Gray's Inn in 1617, was living in Welshpool on 8 October 1639 when Margaret, daughter of Gilbert and Mary Jones, was buried (fragmentary Welshpool Registers, id. 36:4), and he served as Bailiff and J.P. at Welshpool in 1640 and 1648 (Morris C. Jones, History of Welshpool, (London, 1874-91), p. 317). As Mary, wife of Edmund Scarborough, was married to this husband by 3 August 1640 (Va. Patents, 1:699), it is quite impossible that this later Mary could be a daughter of Sir Edward Littleton. (Provided by Sutherland McColley ([email protected]) December 04, 1999. . |
Marriage* | circa 1630 | He married Mary Littleton, daughter of Sir Edward Littleton (Chief Justice) and Mary Walter, circa 1630 at England.2 |
