This move was made since the current landowner was going to have the forest cut, and we were afraid the gravesite including the tombstone might have been severely damaged. (Source: Gary Marshall.) |

John A. Marshall1
M, b. circa 1775, d. before 1835
Birth* | circa 1775 | John was born circa 1775 at Accomack Co, VA.2,3 |
Biography* | | There were two contemporary John Marshalls on the bayside during this period. They are believed to have been first cousins, one being the son of Samuel Jr. and the other being the son of Samuel Jr.'s brother Sampson. This one has been judged the son of Samuel because he and his descendants lived on Saxis Island, among the other descendants of Samuel. John would have been the male in Samuel's household in the 1800 census, aged 16-26. John's wife was shown as Hessy on his son Robert's second marriage record. He would have married circa 1800, but no marriage record has been found. The 1820 census lists a John Marshall between Samuel and James (both residents of Saxis), as over 45 years of age. He then had two males in his household under 10 years and two 10-16 years. It is not known when John Marshall died. If he was listed in the 1830 census, his name could not be distinguished from the seaside Marshalls of the same name. He was deceased when his father died in 1835 (Acc Orders 1851-54, p102). John Marshall had four sons (1820 census). |

Census* | 1820 | He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1820 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.3 |
