Death*30 January 2022John Miles Porter died on 30 January 2022 at Riverside Hospital, Across the Bay, Virginia, at age 70. John Miles Porter, known as Johnny to family and friends, died Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the age of 70. Born January 18, 1952 in Nassawadox, VA and raised in Saxis, VA, he was the son of the late John Porter and Juanita Miles Porter. Following high school, Johnny enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and continued to serve his country for nearly 21 years. In 1970, he began driving truck for Holly Farms, now Tyson Foods, retiring after 43 years. Johnny always knew how to have a good time, which often came with a few jokes and lots of laughs. He was a longtime member of the Onancock Elks Lodge No. 1766, a diehard Baltimore Ravens Fan, and looked forward to NASCAR Sundays. Johnny’s sly grin and loud chuckle were trademarks of his personality, both of which were well known and will be missed by all, especially among his friends at the Elks and Club Car. He wouldn’t want a bunch of tears and sadness, but he’d expect everyone to gather to share their favorite ‘Johnny’ story while enjoying a cold Natty Light in his honor. Johnny is survived by his daughter, Amy Porter Leighton and her husband, Roland; grandsons, Joshua Aaron Taylor and his wife, Ashley, Trevor Miles Drummond, and Nicholas Chase Drummond; brother-in-law, Jimmy Taylor; and nieces, Amy Coffey and Jami Dizon and their families. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wives, Jean Elaine Porter and Anne Fitchett Porter; his sister, Susan Taylor; nephews, Jeffrey and Jonathan Coffey; and his dog and faithful sidekick, "Susie." The date and time for Johnny’s celebration of Johnny’s life is pending and will be announced when scheduled. Interment will be held at the John W. Taylor Cemetery. Contributions in Johnny’s memory may be made to the Onancock Elks Medical Fund, P.O. Box 219, Accomac, VA 23301. Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com. Death*18 May 2020He died on 18 May 2020 at Craddockville, Accomack Co, VA, at age 54. Jeffrey Douglas “Jeff” Coffey, 54, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2020 at the home of his cousin and guardian angel, Amy Porter Leighton. Born November 28, 1965 in Salisbury, MD, he was the loving and devoted son of the late Susan Porter Taylor and grandson of the late John and Juanita Porter. For those who had the great pleasure of experiencing the genuine love, compassion, and loyalty that was Jeff Coffey, they know how incredibly lucky they were. As territory manager for E&C Enterprises, he was committed to his duty to ensure operations ran smoothly in each of his Corner Mart stores throughout the Shore. You could often find Jeff, surrounded by friends and lots of laughter, at the Onancock Elks Lodge, #1766, where he was a longtime member and faithful volunteer. Jeff spent a lot of time camping with friends and family at Tall Pines Campground and always looked forward to “Sunday Fun Days,” especially when his Baltimore Ravens were playing. He enjoyed cooking, working in his flower beds, relaxing on his back deck, and along with being the life of every party, he loved organizing and decorating a good time for all. No matter where Jeff was, he always brought light and love with him, and his presence will, undoubtedly, be greatly missed. Jeff is survived by his stepfather, Jimmy Taylor of Temperanceville, VA; sister, Jami A. Dizon and husband, Jude “JR,” of Richmond, VA; sister-in-law, Amy Coffey of Parsonsburg, MD; cousin Amy Porter Leighton and husband, Roland, of Craddockville, VA; uncle, Johnny Porter of Bloxom, VA, step sisters, Ellen Taylor of Greenbackville, VA and Amy Wilson of Pittsville, MD; nieces and nephews, Drew and Ethan Coffey, Zoe Dizon, Kristen Taylor, and Carrie and Justin Wilson; best friend, Steve Kolbush; his furbabies, “Winifred” and “Rabbit;” and countless friends, all of whom adored him as he did them. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by the love of his life and partner of more than 20 years, Eugene Stephen “Gene” Carey; his brother, Jonathan D. Coffey; and his father, Marion Douglas Coffey. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jeff’s life once circumstances surrounding the current health crisis permit. Jeff’s heart may have failed to keep him here with us, but his legacy of giving can continue should you choose to donate, in his memory, to the Onancock Elks Lodge, P.O. Box 219, Accomac, VA 23301. Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com. Arrangements by the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home.

Biography*1940Since Marvin was the youngest of eight children, he was actually younger than some of his nieces and nephews. He was always full of fun and on the go. He would fall asleep while driving his car. He had a big boat and loaded potatoes and tomatoes up the Pocomoke River and took them to markets in Baltimore and Washington. His two daughters, Thelma and Daphine, and Faye Lewis, a neighbor, were pals with Evelyn (Lewis) Powell. Once Evelyn was invited to go to Washington with him when he carried a boat load of potatoes. It rained most of the time, but he called a taxi and took them to the Smithsonian Museums. They were dressed in their Sunday best. The day they left was a beautiful day and he asked a man he knew to take them for a ride. They rode around the Capital and the White House. He made three girls very happy. One time when he was away, Daphine got their mother's attention and Thelma got the car keys. Since the garage was on the Drewer new road, they pushed the car out and went for a ride. One time Marvin came home and found his car was missing. He reported it stolen and the police were there when his daughters arrived in his car. He didn't stay mad long. Each year before Easter he would buy his sister Mary's daughters their Easter outfits, selected them himself. After his days of operating the freight boat were over, he had trucks to haul the produce. He had friends from the Eastern Shore to points north where he sold produce.
