Evidently he was moved, as he his now at Downing's Cemetery with his wife Ethel, who died in 1957..2 |

Grinnalds my tract of land which I purchased of John Ewell and also the balance of the land which I purchased of Ephran of N., which is not given away, and also I give to her all the property of mine that she has in her possession at this time, to her and her heirs forever and I bind my daughter Tabither J. Grinnalds to pay to my daughter Elendor Ewell one hundred and fifty dollars. NINTH. I give to my daughter Elendor Ewell one bed tent. I give to my grand daughter Eveline Taylor one hundred dollars to her and her heirs forever. SEVENTH.(sic) I give to my three daughters Comfort Parkes, Margaret Ann Lewis and Mariah Parkes all of my Notes Bonds Property and Money which I have not given away to them three to be equal divided, to them and their heirs forever. In testimony whereof, I, the said John Parkes Sr. have to this my last will and testament signed and subscribed my name this Eighth day Sept in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty five. At a Circuit Court held for the County of Accomack on the 2nd day of May 1870, this last will and testament of John Parkes Senr, deceased, was proved by the oaths of Burwell B. Ewell and John R. Bowdoin, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Parker W. Parkes, the Executor therein named, who made oath as the law directs, and together with Levin D. Lewis, John R. Johnson, Thomas P. Lewis and John R. Hinman his sureties, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of six thousand dollars ($6,000), conditioned according to law, Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form and it is ordered that the said bond be recorded.
