Evans, Jr. of Crisfield; four daughters, Mrs. Manie Bell and Mrs. Orland Howard, both of Pocomoke City, Mrs. Early Groom of Baltimore and Mrs. Hattie Lawson of Crisfield; 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Herbert Bell of Rehoboth, Mrs. Irving Matthews of Pocomoke City and Mrs. Sidney Ennis of Princess Anne. Services were held Monday at 3:30 p m. in the Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home here. The Rev. R. Perry Ellis, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Pocomoke City, officiated. Mary is survived by her beloved son, Chris Ward and wife, Marcy of Onancock; grandchildren, April Woods (Jaime) and Heather Powers (EJ); great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Woods and Keagan Powers; special cousins, Joyce Linton, Barry and Linda Linton, Ellen and Freddie Linton and Mike Watson. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM from the Thornton Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Onancock. Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley, VA. |

Brittingham, age 70, died Saturday in the Peninsula General Hospital, following a brief illness. Born in Saxis, Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Sally Shaw. She had lived in Greenbackville for about 18 years. She is survived by her husband, Norman M. Brittingham, Greenbackville; a daughter, Mrs. James Crowley, Salisbury; two sons, William E. Brittingham, Philadelphia, and Claton M. Brittingham, Greenbackville; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Daisy Wilson, Exmore, Mrs. Clayton Bennett and Mrs. James Bowden, both of Chester, Pa; and five brothers, Elwood, John, and Willis Shaw, all of Cape Charles and Orris and Otho Shaw, both of Chester, Pa. Funeral services were to be held today at 2 p.m. in the Dennis and Watson Funeral Home, Pocomoke City, with the Elder Robert L. Kirk, pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, of which Mrs. Brittingham was a member, officiating. Interment will be in Portersville Methodist Cemetery, Stockton.4 |
