Duncan & Louisa his wife plantiff vs Peter Corbin & wife et. al. defendants, I have surveyed the land in the proceedings of that cause situated in Acco. Parish near Pocomoke River (called Milligan Land) and ascertained the content to be 248.56 acres. Miss Julia Wallop Fletcher was born and reared in the northern part of this county (Acc) and about 30 years went to Tacoma, Washington with her sister, Miss Florence Fletcher, to live with their brother, Judge John Drummond Fletcher. She identified herself with the life of Tacoma, was a charter member of the Dixie Chapter of Daughters of the Confederacy of Tacoma and also State President of the organization. She was an active member of Christs Church, where her interest and help will be greatly missed. Her remains will be brought here and interment will be in the family burying ground on Holden's Creek, near Jenkins Bridge, at 3:00 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, 14 Nov (obituary, unknown newspaper)..2 |

Born in Horsey he was the son of the late Donald Frank Fletcher Sr. and Elodie Jones Fletcher. He was a general practioner serving his community for 35 years from 1952 until his retirement in 1987. Prior to that he served in the US Navy, stationed in the South Pacfic during WWII and remained in the Naval Reserves until his retirement in 1975 as a captain. He was on the School Board of Accomack County from 1954-1983 and served as chairman from 1970-1981. He was also the former medical examiner for Accomack County for many years. He is survived by 2 sons Charles Richards Fletcher of Birmingham, AL and Richard Ashton Fletcher of San Diego, CA, one daughter Susan Madison of Pocomoke City, MD; 2 grandchildren, Donald Fletcher IV of Wallops Island and Russell Curtis Fletcher of San Diego; a brother Robley Jones Fletcher of Horsey; 2 nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by a son Donald Frank Fletcher III who died in 1993.. |
