Taylor of New Church, Va., Clarence C. Taylor of Wilmington. Roy L. Taylor of Laurel, and Edgar T. Taylor of Pocomoke City; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Johnson of Horsey, Va. and Mrs. Bayard Morris of Bishopville; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow from the Dennis and Watson Funeral Home in Pocomoke City with the Rev. Louis C. Obituary - Father's*2 November 1954He was named in his father's obituary on 2 November 1954 at Salisbury, Wicomico Co, MD. Jefferson Taylor, 86, of Pocomoke City, died yesterday in the Friendly Nursing Home in Delmar where he had been a patient for two years. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Amos Taylor of Temperanceville, Va. His wife, Mrs. Mollie F. Taylor, died in 1951. Surviving him are five sons, Jeffe J. and Elmer R. Taylor of New Church, Va., Clarence C. Taylor of Wilmington. Roy L. Taylor of Laurel, and Edgar T. Taylor of Pocomoke City; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Johnson of Horsey, Va. and Mrs. Bayard Morris of Bishopville; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow from the Dennis and Watson Funeral Home in Pocomoke City with the Rev. Louis C. Randall, pastor of Bethany Methodist Church of Pocomoke, officiating. Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery in Oak Hall, Va. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 this evening. Death*13 May 1919William J.M. Sharpley died on 13 May 1919 at Greenbackville, Accomack Co, VA, at age 81. Mr. William J.M. Sharpley died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henrietta S. Young, near Greenbackville, VA on Tuesday morning, May 13th, of general debility, at the advanced age of 91 years, 6 months and 7 days. He was the son of David Sharpley and wife, who before her marriage was Miss Eleanor J. Dukes. He was born at the "Old Furnace" in Worcester County. He afterwards lived at Sandy Hill, now Stockton, until 1846, when he moved to Greenbackville, VA, being the second settler here. He has resided here ever since, with the exception of the last year and a half, which time he has lived with his daughter, Mrs. Henrietta Young, widow of the late W.H. Young, at her farm near here, just over the Maryland line. He moved to Virginia when "the great oyster catch was first discovered at Long Point." He was the oldest living citizen living in town. He is survived by five sons and one daughter, who are: William D., Joshua T., Henry L., George A, and Edward P. Sharpley, and Mrs. Henrietta Young. He is also survived by a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a charter member of the Methodist Protestant Church of Greenbackville. The funeral was held in the M.P. Church, Tuesday afternoon, after which his remains were buried in the M.P. Cemetery near Greenbackville.1,2

I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Deans, one bed, second choice, and furniture. I give unto my son-in-law Joseph Deans, my small secretary and bookcase. I leave unto my daughter Elizabeth Deans during her natural life, all the lands I own North of the road leading from Pig Point road Eastward to the Norfolk County line. At the death of said Elizabeth Deans, I give the said lands, herein before lands to the said Elizabeth Deans unto the children of the said Elizabeth Deans. I give unto my said daughter Elizabeth Deans, and her husband Joseph Deans, six hundred dollars of the debt which the said Joseph Deans owes me.
I give unto my son John W. Ames the farm on which he lately resided, situated on Bennett's Creek, including all the lands on the said farm West and South of the following Pine: Beginning at the center of the road on the North side of the land belonging to Patrick Arthur, and running down said road to a marked Locust Post a few yards Northward of the said John W. Ames's land, Hence a Westward course parallel with the said land to a marked Locust Post; Hence about a North course to a marked Pine at the head of a cove; Hence down the center of the said cove until it strikes W. J. Arthur's Pines.
I give unto my son Levi D. Ames, the farm or tract of land which I purchased of John B. Haynes and his wife, and Benjamin F. Causey and his wife, and lying on the east side of Knott's Creek. I also give unto my son Levi D. Ames my interest in the swamp lands lying on the South side of the road leading from Pig Point road Eastward to the Norfolk County line, which I purchased of John B. Haynes, B. F. Causey and W. J. Lawrence. I also give unto my son Levi D. Ames, the tract of land in Nansemond County which I purchased of Wilson Norfleet trustee of Jas. B. Norfleet, and known as the "White Tract". I also give unto my son Levi D. Ames, all my interest in the vacant lots in the City of Portsmouth owned now jointly by myself and the said Levi D. Ames,
(I give unto my son Benjamin F. Ames the farm on which he lately resided, situated on Knott's Creek, including all the balance of the land I own in Knott's Neck not herein before disposed of.) I also give him one bed, fourth choice, and furniture. I give unto my son Richard B. Ames the farm or tract of land in Bennett's Pasture which I purchased of W. J. Wright, bounded by Bennett's Creek and the lands of Wm. Warrington, R.B. Ames and others. I also give unto my son Richard B. Ames three hundred dollars out of the debt which he owes me.
I give in trust to Levi D. Ames four thousand dollars for my granddaughters Mary Elizabeth Ames and Margaret Edward Ames, orphans of James Edward Ames deceased: the interest or as much thereof as needed, to be used for their support, and the principal, and what interest may be due, to be paid to them when they shall arrive to the age of twenty-one years. In case of the death of the said Mary Elizabeth Ames and Margaret Edward Ames before they shall arrive to the age of twenty-one years, and leaving no child, the said sum of four thousand dollars, and the interest that may be due, is to go to my sons John W. Ames, Levi D. Ames, Benjamin F. Ames and Richard B. Ames; and to my daughter Elizabeth Deans during her natural life: and her share to her children after her death. What difference there may be in the value in the lands which I give unto my sons John W. Ames, Levi D. Ames, Benjamin F. Ames and Richard B. Ames I wish them to settle between themselves. The property I leave to my wife Mary Ann Ames, excepting the slaves Daniel, Wallace, George and Polly, I wish at her death to be equally divided between my sons John W. Ames, Levi D. Ames, Benj. F. Ames and Richard B. Ames; and my daughter Elizabeth Deans during her natural life, and her slave to go to her children at her death.
I give unto my daughter Margaret Ann Ames, one bed, third choice, and furniture, and one wardrobe.
The balance of my estate after the payment of my just debts I give unto my sons John W. Ames, Levi D. Ames, Benjamin F. Ames and Richard B. Ames; and to my daughter Elizabeth Deans during her natural life; her slave to go to her children at her death.
I hereby appoint my sons as John W. Ames, Levi D. Ames, Benjamin F. Ames and Richard B. Ames the Executors of this my last will and testament. In case of the death of the said Mary Elizabeth Ames and Margaret Edward Ames before they shall arrive to the age of twenty-one years, and leaving no child, the said sum of four thousand dollars, and the interest that may be due, is to go to my sons John W. Ames, Levi D. Ames, Benjamin F. Ames and Richard B. Ames; and to my daughter Elizabeth Deans during her natural life: and her share to her children after her death. She had been ill about a week with pneumonia. The funeral will be conducted from the residence by Dr. Staley at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. The deceased was about 63 years old. The decedent was a widow of the late Dempsey Langston. Her first husband was Benjamin F. Ames, who was killed at Gettysburg by the same shell which tore away a leg from Capt. A. P. Gomer, clerk of the Circuit Court here. She is survived by two sons and three daughters - B. F. and J. E. Ames, Mrs. Rosa Byrd and Misses Eunice and Gertrude Langston. Published in the Virginian-Pilot on Tuesday January 22, 1901.1 
Burial*22 January 1901Roxana was buried on 22 January 1901 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk City, Suffolk Co, VA. The funeral of Mrs. Roxana Virginia Langston took place this afternoon from her late home, at the residence of Mrs. Brothers on Clay street. Dr. W. W. Staley conducted the exercises. The burial was in Cedar Hill. These were pall-bearers: Active—Jacob Darden, R. H. Morgan, John G. Eberwine, J. O. Hill, Frank Ames, John B. Norfleet, John Jones, H. M. Parker. Honorary - G. W. Biography*3 September 1955Mary Bagley Ames, unmarried daughter of Benjamin Franklin Ames, Jr., and long time Portsmouth school teacher wrote the 'History of the Family of John Ames' in the 1950s. She organized several reunions of this family in Nansemond county. She made a mistake in making John (1796) a direct descendant of Levin, but if she did not go into the details, I can see how it would be easy to make this mistake. She did not have access to Levi Dow Ames' family bible which stated that John was the son of Levi Ames. (Statement of William Old, 12/23/2022).2,3

That Stephen Harrison was in his lifetime seized & possessed as of fee of & in the premises in the declaration mentioned, which had descended to him from his father, James Harrison, dec., and being thereof seized departed this life on the night between the 23 and 24 day of December, 1790, an infant under the age of 21 years and without issue, leaving one sister of the whole blood, to-wit: the now female defendant, and a brother of the half blood by the side of his mother, to-wit: Abel Phillips, the lessor of the plaintiff, and no other brother or sister or mother; that upon the death of the said Stephen Harrison the female defendant, Nancy, entered into the said premises and afterwards intermarried with the other defendant, William Churn, and that they are now in possession thereof; that at the death of the said Stephen Harrison, the lessor of the plaintiff, Abel Phillips was an infant, & that he arrived at age the 11 day of March, 1801 - 20 May, 1808.1
