Wimbrough, many years an efficient teacher in schools of Worcester and Somerset Counties, Maryland, and in Baltimore died at his home in New York City last Thursday in the 69th year of his age. He had been in failing health for some time and his death was not unexpected. Professor Wimbrough was formerly principal of Snow Hill High School; also, of Washington Academy, Princess Anne, and was noted for his scholastic attainments and for his success as a teacher. A hard student and deep thinker, he made teaching his life work and gave to it the energy and enthusiasm which, on the part of our teachers, have been an important factor in causing our public schools to stand where they do today. Professor Wimbrough is survived by his widow, who was Miss Laura Hall, of Pocomoke City, and by three children: Misses Helen and Nannie Wimbrough, and Mr. John K. Wimbrough, all of New York City. Death*before 1 April 1922He died before 1 April 1922 at Worcester Co, MD.1
Obituary*1 April 1922His obituary was published on 1 April 1922 at Worcester Co, MD. Mr. James E. Wimbrough, 89 years of age, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George W. Bonneville, Sunday afternoon. Mr. Wimbrough was a native of Northampton County, Virginia. He came to Snow Hill long before the Civil War, and played an important part in the thrilling drama of that time. Although born in a section where very few Republicans lived, he was a believer in the principles of that party from its birth and was a consistent member of it from its organization until his eyes closed in his last long sleep. During the Civil War he was one of the few men in this section who had influence with the Federal Government, and he was trusted implicity because of his well known Union principles. When Benjamin Harrison was elected President of the United States, Mr. Wimbrough was appointed Postmaster at Snow Hill. Mr. Wimbrough was a tailor by trade, was a good workman and was known throughout the county, not only for his political activity, but for being a good tailor. He had been in poor health for several years, but managed to do a little work for old friends and customers. His wife died several years ago. In the passing of Mr. Wimbrough Snow Hill loses one of its oldest inhabitants. He had many friends who deeply regret his departure. The deceased is survived by one son and one daughter - Professor Edward C. Wimbrough, of Philadelphia, and Mrs. George W. Bonneville, of Snow Hill. Funeral services were held at the Bonneville home Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock by Rev. L. E. Poole, after which interment was made in the M. E. Cemetery.1
