Tom Mister, one of our most respected and oldest citizens, passed away. Capt. Tom was a man well known in these two counties, always jovila and had a joke and a word of good cheer for everbody. Although an invalid for some time, he always looked on the bright side and put his trust in Jesus, as he used to say, "God knows best." He leaves behind a widow and two daughters, Bessie, and Mrs. Tank Williams, also a host of sorrowing friends. Funeral services were held at Evergreen Church, sermon being preached by his pastor, Rev. W.L. Murphy. He was interred in Hollies cemetery.1 |

He was a 6 year veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served at the Distant Early Warning Line in the Arctic Circle. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife JoAnne Howard Strople; his children Terri Czarniak and her husband Steven of Richlands, NC, Debra Harmon and her husband Eric of Hebron MD, Dawn Davis of Delmar Delaware, Steven Strople of Salisbury MD, Sheree Marshall of Colorado, Greg Miles of Virginia, Jane Everitt and her husband Russell of Toronto, Canada, Peter Strople and his wife Michelle of Toronto, Canada; his brother Irving Strople and his wife Bette of Nova Scotia, Canada; his beloved 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Minnie Strople; sister Avis Strople Walsh and her husbands Stan and Pat; brother Ralph Strople and his wives Doris and Edna; his son Lawrence Emery Strople, Jr. and his daughter Gail Gentile. She was passionate about her career as a Home Health Aide, taking care of others is what she enjoyed most. In her spare time, JoAnne loved shopping at flea markets and crafting! She loved to go dancing with her husband where they frequented the Moose Lodge. She is survived by her loving children Terri Czarniak and her husband Steven of Richlands, NC, Debra Harmon and her husband Eric of Hebron, MD, Dawn Davis of Delmar, DE, Steven Strople of Salisbury, MD, and Sheree Marshall of Colorado Springs, Colorado; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
