A native of Saxis, he was the son of the late Herman T. Bailey and the late Ella B. Linton Bailey. Jimmy was the retired owner of Bailey’s Home Improvement and a member of Capeville Masonic Lodge #107, AF&AM. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Robin B. Von Hollen, and her husband, Nick, of Exmore; a brother, Tim Bailey, and his wife, Vivian, of Pennsylvania; two grandsons, J.R. Bishop and his wife, Jacklyn, of Exmore, and Nicholas Von Hollen Jr., of California; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Bishop and Chelsea Bishop, both of Exmore; and numerous nieces and nephews. Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 virus, a private celebration of life service will be held. Other than his wife, Mr. Chew is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann Lilliston and husband Robert, a son, David Chew and wife Mary Lou, and a step-daughter, Martha McCready and husband Doug, all of Parksley; three sisters, Shirley Van Eastern, Eleanor Rhoades, and Jane Madden, all of NJ; two brothers, Oscar Chew of NJ; and William Chew of Milwaukie, OR; five grandchildren, Michael McCready; Michele Herlihy, Nichole Lilliston, and David and Henry Chew; three great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Mikala Herlihy and Breanna Lilliston and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Johnson and a brother, Carlton Chew. Funeral services conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph A. Shoop officiating. Interment will be in the Parksley Cemetery with Military Honors. There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Following graduation from Parksley High School, Sonny worked as the warehouse manager at M&M Beverage in Nelsonia, which was owned by his relatives, Langston and Annie Laura Mason. Once M&M became Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, Sonny began working alongside his brother, Jamie, as his right-hand man at Advantage Lawn Care and Landscaping, where he remained over the last 25 years. Sonny was especially close to his late mother, Peggy, with whom he shared a special bond. His life revolved around family, both at work and at home, and nothing gave him more joy than being there for those he loved. Sonny is survived by his brothers, Joseph Isaac Linton, of Keller, and Jamie Lee Linton and his daughter, Leighann, both of Fox Grove; aunt, Sue Linton Newhart, of Ohio; and several cousins and extended family members. She was made the Postmaster of the Oak Hall Post Office in 1977 and retired in 1982 with 26 years of service. Her first husband died in 1983. She met and married John W. Owens, January 2, 1988 and moved to Lake Helen, FL, where she lived the balance of her life. Irene is survived by her husband John W. Owens; one son Jimmie Gladding; two grandsons, William Rutter and his wife Cndice and their children, Grace and Adam Rutter and Ryan Balogh and his financee Rachel Melinick; a daughter-in-law, Mary Margaret Gladding; two nieces, Ireva Metcalf (Jim Dunham) and Ferebe Streett and three step children Rose Foxwell (Bobby), John D. and Charles W. Owens. She was preceded by a sister, Lauretta Gordon; a son Charles Gladding and one granddaughter, Jamie Aaron.2 |
