She passed away 5 years and 6 days ago at the same hour with a similar attack. Funeral services were conducted in Salisbury, and the body was brought to Princess Anne for interment in the Presbyterian Churchyard. The deceased is survived by 5 sons, 5 daughters, and 31 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. His children are Mrs. Carroll Hastings of Princess Anne; Mrs. Gordon Adkins of Girdletree; Mrs. Chas. E. Jones, Mrs. Carrie Hancock and Mrs. Walter Timmons all of Salisbury. Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Martin, aged 74 years, wife of James H. Martin and prominent woman of this community, died suddenly at her home here early last Monday morning of heart trouble. Her death occurred around 7:30 a.m. immediately following her return from feeding poultry at her home. She died almost instantly. The deceased was the daughter of the late James Ross and Nancy Ross prominent residents of Somerset County, being a direct descendant of one of the oldest and most prominent families of Somerset County. Surviving the deceased are her husband, Mr. James. H. Martin and ten children; five sons. Messrs. Walsie J. Martin, of Cokesbury; Preston W. Martin, M. Ernest Martin, Harold 0. Martin, and Paul J. Martin of Princess Anne: six daughters Mrs. Lena A. Hastings, of Princess Anne; Mrs. Laura P. Adkins of Girdletree, Mrs. Carrie G. Hancock, Mrs. Sarah P. Jones and Mrs. Walter Timmons of Salisbury. She also leaves twenty-seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The deceased was one ot the most well respected women in this community and was loved by all who were fortunate in making her acquaintance. Adhering to the same principles of living as her ancestors, Mrs. Martin enjoyed good health all her life. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at Antioch Methodist Episcopal Church of this city. Rev. Howard R. McDade, pastor of St. Peters M. E. Church conducting the services. Interment was made at 3:30 o'clock in Manokin Presbyterian Church cemetery of this city. Active pall bearers were: Messrs. I. Oscar Long, Harry B. Wherritt, W. Ray Gibbons, Zadoc W. Townsend, J. Sidney Hayman, and James S. P. White, all of Princess Anne. Honorary pall bearers were Messrs Burton H. Dryden, Bernie C. Dryden and Theodore A. Powell of this city. His late parents were Levin and Mary Howard Hill. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Eurah M. Hill. She died in Dec 1958. Surviving are three sons, Vaughn S. Hill of Greenburg, Pa, Roy W. Hill and Fred C. Hill, borth of Pocomoke City; five daughters, Mrs. L.F. Taylor of Delmar, Mrs. Eva Lee of Baltimore, Mrs. Nan Lee of Washington, DC, and Mrs. Madge Northam, both of Pocomoke City; 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Watson Funeral Home, Pocomoke City, conducted by the Rev. Walter H. Beckwith, pastor of Salem Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Goodwill Methodist Cemetery, near here.3 |

Denston of Pocomoke and David W. Northam of Long Island, N.Y; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Cemetery in Pocomoke. The Rev. Boyd Etter will officiate. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the Melson Funeral Home in Pocomoke.
