John Bennet, newcomers, Robert Hodson, blacksmith, and Thomas Bailey, where the said Jacob Hickman now lives and his mother the widow Grove, and is part of the land that the said Joseph Hickman, his grandfather bought of Henry Bowman and was called Hickmans Field and was one of the tract called Bowmans Farms ... likewise quit claim all his share and right unto that tract of land whereon his bro. William Hickman now lives in Slaughter Neck, 200 a. to his bro. Jacob Hickman it descending to the said Joseph Hickman at the same time by heirship from his father. (NOTE: The first part of the above states Joseph (III) the bricklayer is the son of Joseph (II) and his grandfather Joseph (I) bought the land, but the latter part states he has a brother William and a brother Jacob, which makes him Joseph (II).)1

Funeral services were conducted at the home on Tuesday afternoon by Rev. S.N. Pilchard, pastor of Immanuel M.E. Church, where the deceased had been a member for many years. The remains were interred in the Crisfield cemetery. Mrs. Ward is survived by four children; Mrs. E.T. Riggin; Miss Clark Ward, and Messrs. William and Henry Ward.
