Daniel was a brilliant and dashing officer in the War of the Revolution. He was a Major of the 7th regiment of the Maryland Line Continental Army. In arrangment of field officers of the "Maryland Line" as settled by the board of General Officers of Camp Middlebrook April 13, 1779. Major Daniel Jenifer Adams is recorded as ranking fourth in list of Majors. His commission to be dated April 10, 1777. He was sheriff of his county, a prominent Merchant owner of several thousand acres of land in Maryland and Virginia. He was named as administrator in his fathers will. Information taken from application for Sons of the American Revolution by William Bibb, Jr. Daniel married Nancy Hanson on June 20, 1779 in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware, they had seven known children: Daniel Jenifer Adams, Jr., Timothy Adams, Josias Hanson Adams, Susan Hanson Adams, Thomas B. Adams, Alexander Adams and Thomas Jenifer Adams.2 |
