Hopkins Succumbs at her home after brief illness. Following an illness of a few days' duration, Mrs. Henrietta Hopkins, aged 77 years a highly respected resident of Mt. Vernon district and widow of the late William W. Hopkins, died of pneumonia, at her home, on last Monday morning. Funeral services were conducted, on Tuesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock. at Asbury M. E. Church, Mt. Vernon, Rev. G. W. Hastings, the pastor, officiating, with interment in the adjoining cemetery. A large number of friends and relatives were in attendance to pay their last tribute of respect to the memory of the deceased. The pall-bearers were: Messrs. Handel Hopkins. Mendel Hopkins, William Hopkins, Howard Price, Marion Dryden and George W. Colborn, Jr. The deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James L. Wilson; and Mrs. Fletcher Webster, both of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Mr. W. H. Hopkins, of Colonial Beaoh, Va., and Mr. John T. Hopkins, of Salisbury. A sister, Mrs. Susan Thomas, of Mt. Vernon, 21 grand-children and nine great-grandchildren also survive. While she passed the greater part cf her life in Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Hopkins resided about 12 years in Princess Anne, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cadmus Dashiell. The latter died about one year ago. The deceased had been a lifelong member of Asbury Church, was a devout Christian and her many lovable traits of character had made for her a multitude of friends, by whom she was held in the high regard.1,4 |
