Marriner, 70, of Rio Grande, NJ, passed away suddenly of an aneurysm on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 surrounded by his family at Cooper University Hospital. Born in North Wildwood, NJ to the late Odis James and Margaret Mary Thompson Marriner, he was a lifetime resident of this area. A man of strong faith, Bob was a former member of St. Raymond Church and presently an active member of Our Lady of the Angels Church in Cape May Court House. He was a Eucharistic Minister for 35 years and served in the Knights of Columbus. He was past president of the parish council at St. Raymond Church. Bob had a marine electrical service for over 35 years. He formed strong relationships with many of the fisherman and was well respected in the entire industry. A man with a kind heart and a gentle soul, he was always helping other people, even in death, donating his organs. He was a man of many words and loved conversation. Animals always seemed to find him as an animal lover. He was a father to many of the neighborhood kids growing up. He was a Model A enthusiast and loved his sweets, but his greatest enjoyment came from being "Pop" to his grandchildren. Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara A. Devlin Marriner; his children, Colleen Marriner, Bryan (Ashlee) Marriner, and Paul (Jackie) Marriner; his brothers and sister, Joseph Marriner, Frank Marriner, Charles Marriner, and Peggy Bailey; his three grandchildren, Gavin, Jase, and Allison; his nieces and nephews; and his great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Billy Marriner and his sister, Elizabeth Acevedo. Funeral Mass will be said on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House. Interment will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Goshen. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Hope and Help Outreach at Our Lady of the Angels Church.1 |

LANKFORD, JR., 82, of Salisbury, formerly of Berlin and Pocomoke City, died at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born August 5, 1921 in Pocomoke City, he was a son of the late Stanley E. Lankford, Sr., and the late Beatrice Pilchard Lankford. He was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Elmore Lankford, February 21, 1979 and his second wife, Betty McGee Lankford, June 22, 2003. Mr Lankford was a member of the Stevenson United Methodist Church, a past member of the Pocomoke Elks B.P.O.E. #1624, the Farm Bureau and the Somerset County 4-H. He attended the University of Maryland. He served in the U.S. Army receiving a Purple Heart for injuries received in the "Black Forest". After serving in the Army, he returned to his family farm, raising Black Angus cattle and potatoes. In 1964 he started the S.E. Lankford, Jr. Produce, merging into Sysco Corporation in 1981, forming Lankford-Sysco Food Services, retiring in 1988. He is survived by three sons; Thomas E. Lankford and his wife Bonnie of Houston, TX, C. Frederick Lankford and his wife Pamela of Rehobeth, MD and James E. Lankford of Newport Beach, CA; four grandchildren, Heather L. Hammond, Hunter Lankford, Maggie Lankford and Elizabeth Lankford; one great-grandson, Graham Hammond; a brother Ralph P. Lankford and his wife Dorothea of Pocomoke City; a sister, Anne Lankford Leveridge and her husband John of Glen Allen, VA and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 1, 2003 at the Pocomoke Elks Lodge, where family and friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 P.M. and one hour prior to the service. Rev. David S. Parke will officiate. Interment will follow in Pitts Creek Presbyterian Cemetery in Pocomoke City. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Lower Shore Family YMCA, P.O. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Lankford and her husband, Tom, of Sarasota, FL and Rehobeth, MD, and her son Glenn Bowman and his wife, Debbie, of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Heather Hammond and her husband, Steve, Hunter Lankford and his wife, Julie, Elizabeth Lankford, Holly Chapman and her husband, Dan, Tyler Bowman and his wife, Jenny, and Anna Miller and her husband, Billy, and Matt Bowman; and great grandchildren, Graham and Hunter Hammond, Sarah and Conner Lankford, Carter and Wyatt Chapman, and Trinity Bowman. She is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Vivian Wyatt and Lu Wyatt, both of Portsmouth. In addition to her husband she was also pre-deceased by a son, James V. Bowman, Jr., of Midlothian, VA, who died December 4, 1989, a daughter-in-law Brenda Bowman Jordan of Toms River, NJ, and her brothers Frank, George, Damon, and John Wyatt, all of Portsmouth. Delma was a member of the Lynnhaven Baptist Church in Pocomoke City, where she was well known for her éclairs. The family would like to thank the staff of Lakeside Assisted Living for their care and support. Services will be held at the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, 5757 Coventry Parish Road, Westover, MD 21871 at 2 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2014, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Kirk Dausman will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.5 |
