I give my daughter Polly Goffigon the land I bought of John Respess' heirs containing 200 acres & upwards with what I have heretofore given her in advance & Lettice a Negro girl. I give my daughter Esther Goffigon the plantation on King's Creek containing 102 acres more or less also one half of my Cooks plantation north side containing suppose 75 acres with the houses & half the timber & 100 pounds cash to be raised out of my estate and Sarah a Negro woman. I give my daughter Sukey Goffigon forever the two hundred acres of land (heretofore given her mother Frances Goffigon during her life) also 90 acres & upwards lands bought of Obediah Hunt's executors, during the life of Frances Goffigon and if she the said Frances my wife should survive the time of my said daughter Sukey's arriving to twenty two years of age I then in that case confirm the said ninety acres to her my said daughter Sukey & her heirs forever also the two hundred acres before mentioned (to her mother for life). I give Patsey Goffigon 50 dollars cash. All the remainder part of my estate I desire may be equally divided among my wife Frances Goffigon and all my children. ARINTHA BELL DIED ON TUESDAY - Mrs. Arintha Bell, of Annapolis, a former resident of Mariners, died of lobar pneumonia Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Nelson, at Mariners, where she was visiting, after an illness of three weeks. She was 73 years of age. Mrs. Bell was the widow of the late Bryon Bell, who died in August, 1936. She was the daughter of the late William H. and Emily Riggin Bedsworth, and a member of one of Somerset county's oldest and most highly esteemed families. For a number of years she had been making her home with Mr. and Mrs. William McCready, at Annapolis. She was a member of Mariners M. P. Church and before making her home in Annapolis, took an active interest in all affairs of her church and community. She was well-known and had a large circle of friends who were grieved to learn of her passing. Mrs. Bell is survived by two brothers, John F. Bedsworth, of Washington, D.C., and Charles W. Bedsworth, of Pittsburgh, Pa. Funeral services were held from Mariners M. P. Church yesterday Thursday, afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W. C. Mumford, pastor. Interment was in the family plot in Mariners cemetery.1 |
