Virginia passed away on 17 Feb 1924 at Crisfield, Maryland, aged 80 yrs, 1 mos and 29 days. She was a widow. Interment was in Mariners Cemetery. James Bedsworth was the informant. (MD Death Certificate) Mrs. Virginia Sterling, known throughout the community as "Aunt Virgie," died at the home of Mr. Jas. Bedsworth last Sunday morning about 10 o'clock. She was 80 years of age but was as active as a woman of much younger age. Death was caused by pneumonia. Mrs. Sterling was the widow of the late William Sterling and had spent her entire life in this community. She was a good christian woman, highly respected by everyone who knew her. For many years she had been a member of Immanuel M. E. Church. Mrs. Sterling is survived by two children—Mrs. Effie Hastings of Washington, D.C., and William D. Sterling of Crisfield. Funeral services were held from Immanuel church on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor Rev. J. L. Johnson, and burial was in the old family burial ground.
