Obituary - Mother's* | 6 January 1923 | George Frank Russell was named in his mother's obituary on 6 January 1923 at Cape Charles, Northampton Co, VA. The community of Exmore was greatly shocked on Saturday evening, December 23, when it learned of the sudden death of Mrs. Ellen Russell, widow of the late Capt. John Russell. Mrs. Russell was in the 83rd year of her life and lived with her daughter, Mrs. Annie Hornsby, of Exmore. Words cannot express the high esteem in which Mrs. Russell was held, for she was loved by everyone who knew her. The funeral services were held at her late home Monday, December 25, at eleven o'clock. Interment was in the family burying ground at Belle Haven beside her late husband, who died three years ago, December 1st. Those surviving Mrs. Russell are one daughter, Mrs. Annie Hornsby, Exmore, one son, Mr. George Russell, of Cape Charles, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two nephews and one niece and a host of friends are left to mourn their loss. The floral tributes were many and beautiful.4 |

Parkes, the remaining Executor in the said will named, taking oath and giving bond according to law in the penalty of twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00), with Joseph Moore, George P. Also all the remainder (after payment of all my just debts and burial charges of my estate real, personal and mixed of every description, to be held by him in trust as hereafter set fourth, but the income arising from the said property shall go to the said George P. Parkes, provided that said George P. Parkes, keeps and comfortably cares for my daughter Mary A. Parkes and her lawful issue and in case it becomes necessary, or the income from said property, is not sufficient to keep my said daughter Mary A. Parkes, comfortably, then the said George P. Parkes may use so much of the personal property so held by him in trust, as may be necessary to accomplish that purpose, but in case of the refusal, or inability of said George P. Parkes, to carry out the trust imposed by this instrument, then the said Mary A. Parkes, shall have the privilege of selecting some person to execute said trust, and such selected person, shall hold the above named property, in trust for the purposes and under the conditions, herein set forth. In case the said Mary A. Parkes shall depart this life without leaving lawful issue, the I desire that my son Edward T. Parkes shall have the house and lot that I bought of Louis F. Hinman forever, and that my son George P. Parkes, shall have the house and lot that I bought of Allie T. White and that my daughter Margaret S. Causey shall have the house and land where I now reside, known as the Long Field, forever, and also all other property held in trust by the said George P. Parkes by me given for the benefit of said Mary A. Parkes, shall be equally divided between my three sons viz. George P. Parkes, Sylvanius W. Parkes and Edward T. Parkes. Lastly, I hereby nominate and appoint George P. Parkes and Edward T. Parkes, the executors of this my last will and testament.
