There had been some inter-family transactions and in this year the land was surveyed for a division according to the resulting ownerships; the survey showed only 341 acres instead of the supposed 600 acres; the shrinkage may have been caused by the constant erosion along the bay shore, although the original amount may have been over-estimated. In the division, Michale Hallett received 110 acres at the point and the largest parcel of 138 acres, which was east of him, went to a brother Thomas. After the death of Michael, Thomas gradually acquired all of the several parcels. Thomas established himself on tract N3A, but there has not been any old house on the property for many years.2 |
