In his will Michael Dowty gave the use of my plantation to my loving wife Peggy Dowty so long as she shall live and at her death to my three daughters viz: Elizabeth Dowty, Marget Dowty and Mary Dowty. My will and desire is that the balance of my estate be sold and after paying all my just debts to be an equal division among all my children viz: William Dowty, Josiah Dowty, Michael Dowty, Edmon Dowty, Thomas Dowty, Elizabeth Dowty, Marget Dowty and Mary Dowty. Will - Father's*20 June 1836James was named in his father's will on 20 June 1836 at Northampton Co, VA. In his will John Nelson Jr. lent his daughter Sarah Elizabeth a Negro girl called Lavinia. In case my said daughter Sarah Elizabeth should die unmarried or without issue all the property given to her should go to my two children Margaret Jane and James Frederick. I hereby direct that the sum of five hundred dollars should be loaned out by my executor on mortgage or some other good and safe security and remain so invested for the support of my son John G. in case he should become afflicted or in any manner so disabled as to prevent him from earning his living by his own honest labor.
