In loving remembrance of Esther S. Russell, who died Thursday last Oct 6th age 73 years. She has been a faithful member of St. Peters M. E. Church for over fifty years and when death came was still trusting in Jesus. Her sufferings on earth were many, yet patiently she bore them, until amid the early evening hours of Thursday last, her loving Savior called her from earth to heaven. She was a true and devoted mother, a kind and loving sister always carrying with her pleasant words and smiles for everyone. There has been left a vacancy which never can be filled. Gone But Not Forgotten. By her niece Mrs. W. R. Nelson. (The Crisfield Times, Crisfield, Maryland, Saturday, October 15, 1904.)8,4

T. Stringer. I bind those who may hold said property to furnish my cousin E. T. Stringer with a home as long as she may remain single. I give my wife the ten acres of land I purchased of Mrs. E. Scarborough. I give my father his choice of all my medicines, medical books, shop furniture, thumb lancet case and a lancet and all the other instruments I possess. I give my brother John my white hat and any of my apparel that Anna may see proper to part with. I leave my little whip and cane to my brother Baraud. I leave my wife my sole executrix. In his will John Tankard lent loving wife Sarah during her life and in lieu of all dower in my estate the plantation whereon I now reside. I also lend unto my wife Sarah during her life the following slaves; Sacker, Cary, Alice & Lucy & her child Laura and I give to my wife, in fee simple, Lucy's oldest child called Mary but all the property loaned and given to my wife Sarah is loaned and given to her upon the express condition that she claim no dower in my estate and that she furnish my sons John and Barraud Tankard with boarding and lodging and suitable apparel of domestic manufacture as long as they are unmarried and continue to live with give and bequeath to my son John Tankard and his heirs the plantation whereon I now reside after the death of his mother. During the lifetime of my wife Sarah I lend my seaside plantation that I bought of Mr. John Upshur to my two sons John & Barraud Tankard jointly and equally between them and at the death of my wife Sarah I give the whole of the said seaside plantation to my son Barraud Tankard. I give and bequeath unto my said sons John & Barraud Tankard at my death my slaves Major, Peter, Jacob, Lett, Abel and Sabra. I give and bequeath to my daughter in law my gold sleeve buttons. I mean Ann Tankard the widow of my son George Tankard. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Hussley forty dollars. My will and desire is that the rest & residue of my estate not heretofore given or devised away be disposed of in the following manner; one fifth part thereof I give and bequeath to Margaret Wyatt, one fifth part thereof I give and bequeath to Susan Garrison, one fifth part thereof give and bequeath to Mary Hursley, one fifth part thereof I give and bequeath to the children of my deceased son George Tankard. Rev War Vet relative*15 April 1851He was shown to be related to a Rev War veteran on 15 April 1851 at Northampton Co, VA. John W. Tankard, aged 39 years, who declared he was one of the children and also the executor of the last will and testament of Doctor John Tankard, deceased, late of this County, who was a surgeon in the Virginia State Line in the Rev. War; the said Doctor John Tankard removed to and settled in this County in or about the year 1788; he resided in the County of Northampton during the last 48 years of his life; he was engaged from many years of his life as a surgeon and physician in private practice in this County, and he died in the said County on 24 Apr 1836, having first duly made his last Will; the said Doctor John Tankard left a widow at his death named Sarah, who died in this County on 7 Feb 1845. Dr. John Tankard was entitled to the benefits of the Act of Congress passed June the 7, 1832, but never received the benefits thereof, not did his widow. Anecdote*circa 1835 Col. John B. Thomas was Elizabeth's guardian after the death of her parents. He was both an uncle and first cousin to Elizabeth. She was only 11 years old when her father died and 12 when her mother died. She spent part of her time with her Uncle Col. Thorowgood Taylor in the Northern Neck and the remainder of her time with her Uncle Col. John B. Thomas in Cape Charles. White visiting her Taylor relations she became most interested in the Methodist religion and became a Methodist. Col. Thomas was infuriated and informed Elizabeth he would not provide transportation for her to attend the Methodist Church. She attend church anyway, by walking.9 
Will - Mentioned in*27 February 1838Thorowgood was mentioned in a will on 27 February 1838 at Northampton Co, VA. In his will John B. Thomas gave his daughter Margaret Finney the lands belonging to me in Accomack County which I purchased of Thorowgood Taylor and Susan his wife in 1826.10
