Biography*Amos Patterson Trader's birth, according to the 1870 census, was circa 1866. According to the 1880 census it was circa 1867 and according to his 1891 Worcester Co marraige record was 1868. However, his tombstone shows 25 Jul 1860. Evidently the tombstone is in error.

Biography*Marion Jasper Poulson bought two adjacent tracts of land from Henry Davis and wife Hetty on 7 Oct 1874, for $973 (Acc Deeds 1874-76, p. 39). 28 acres was the Johnson land adjoining George P. Bird's heirs and Samuel Lucas heirs. 92 acres, called the Dickerson land, joined Samuel Taylor, Alsanada Chase and Capt. William Lewis. On 27 Sep 1881, Marion J. Poulson bought 91 acres near Muddy Creek from William R. Lewis and wife for $800 (Acc Deed Bk 54, p. 456). This was bound on the northwest by his first purchase, northeast by Elizabeth Justis, southeast by William Northam, and southwest by Thomas Trader, a brother to Marion's wife Sarah. While Marion was listed as a farmer by census records, in 1884 he had a school house (Pen. Ent., Muddy Ck News, 26 Jan 1884). This article tells of a movement to open a road from A.F. Mears' store at Mearsville, northwest to M.J. Poulson's school house in Cattail Neck, a distance of one mile.

Poulson vs. West, it was brought out that James Dix, late of this county, was in his lifetime and at the time of his death, seized in his demesne as of fee in a certain plantation and tract of land near the head of Metmopkin Creek, and being so seized departed this life on the ___ day of ___ 1800, under the age of 21 years, intestate & without issue, leaving your orator and a certain Erastus Poulson his nephews & heirs at law, they being the sons of Polly Poulson, formerly Polly Dix, who was a sister to the said James Dix; since the death of the said James Dix, on the ___ day of ___ 1806 the said Erastus Poulson conveyed to the said John West, late of this county, the whole of the said tract of land containing by estimation 150 acres, although he was only entitled to 1/2 of said tract, the other 1/2 of which belonged to your orator; on the 20 Sep 1910, the said John West, having formerly entered upon and become possessed of the premises, departed this life intestate, leaving John & Harret West, infants, who are prayed to be made defendants to this suit, his children and heirs at law (Patience West appointed their guardian to defend this suit); at the death of the said James Dix, Anne Duncan, formerly Ann Dix, who was the widow of John Dix, was entitled to 1/3 of the said plantation as her dower during her life, and on the ___ day of Jun 1812, the said Anne Duncan departed this life &c.1

That a certain Henry Custis late of this county on the 4 July 1802, being indebted to a certain Fletcher of this county, as administrator of Leah Dickerson, for the purpose of securing the payment of same conveyed to the said Thomas Fletcher a certain tract of land containing 30 acres, situate on the head of Guilford Creek; that the said Henry Custis departed this life intestate on the ____ day of Dec. 1809(sic), leaving a daughter Tabitha his only child & heir at law; that the said Tabitha Custis on the ____ day of Oct. 1807, intermarried with a certain Erastus Poulson, and on the ____ day of May 1815, the said Tabitha Poulson departed this life leaving her husband Erastus Poulson and two children, viz: John & Edward A. Poulson living; that on the ____ day of May 1815, your orator was married to your oratrix, &c. 30 Oct. 1815. (NOTE: Other information recorded in the Acc-N'hamp Bible Record Collection shows he died on 2 Dec 1802 and administration on his estate was dated 28 Feb 1803.)6

Extr. to pursue the Suit in Chancery against Thomas Cropper to recover a deficiency in the quantity of land I purchased of him. To daughter Margaret 1/3 part of water grist & sawmill & 1/3 of 7 acres adjoining Poulson's mills. To wife Margaret ... & my Negro woman Rose & at my wife's death or marriage Rose to be free or the liberty to serve any of my children if she will not accept her freedom. If my wife claims her dower in my mill at Assawoman & the 22 acres in the same neighborhood, my son Thomas & my daughter Margaret, out of the estate devised to them, shall pay to the trustees herein appointed for my daughter Sarah P. Burton & her children a sum annually equal to the annual value of the dower so claimed to be applied to the use of my daughter Sarah & her children. Abraham Crippen, free Negro, should have the house & lot he now occupies during his life by paying $1 annually rent & upon his death the house to go to my Negro man Solomon & Sabra his wife during their life & then to the trustees of my daughter Sarah P. Biography*Edward T. Poulson was living in St. Petersburg, FL, when his father died in 1923. He was a doctor when listed as a surviving brother of Erastus P. Poulson in 1938. An article in a county newspaper shows a picture of Rev. Edward T. Poulson, D.D., and states he was to conduct a revival at Modest Town Baptist Church in 1936 (Pen. Ent., 22 Aug 1936).
