Jemimah Booth to have my negro wench Lisha as long as she lives in the station she now is in, but if she marry or suffer her children or anybody else to abuse the said wench, then to return to my estate to be divided between the rest of my children hereafter named. Daughters Betty, Peggy & Sinah resid. legatees. That after the making of the said will the said Joshua departed this life on the ____ Aug. of the same year, seized & possessed as aforesaid, which said will was proved on the 1 day Sept. 1773 and admitted to record; That after the death of the said Joshua Foster the said Absalom Foster entered into the premises in the declaration mentioned and was possessed thereof, and afterwards Joshua Hickman, one of the grandsons before mentioned, on the ____ day of April, 1786, died an infant, intestate and without issue, leaving Custis Hickman, his father aforesaid, Peggy Hickman, his mother aforesaid, and several sisters then living; that afterwards the said Absalom Foster being still possessed of the premises as aforesaid, together with his wife, Charity, to-wit: on the 23 Mar. 1787, conveyed 50 acres of land, being part of the said premises, to John Boisnard; that the said Absalom Foster and his wife Charity, on the 20 Feb. 1792, demised, granted and to farm lett the residue of the premises in the declaration mentioned to the said John Boisnard, for and during the term of 10 years commencing the 1 Jan. then last past, and afterwards, to-wit: on the ____ Oct. 1792 the said Absalom Foster died intestate leaving issue William Foster, his eldest son, Leah Foster, Joshua Foster, Sally Foster, George Foster, Samuel Foster & Betty Foster. It was the court's opinion, however, that he was guilty and ought to be tried at the next General Court held in the Capitol of Williamsburg. Ordered that he be taken into the sheriff's custody but be permitted to go at large after posting a £500:00:00 bond with good security for his appearance on the sixth day of the said court. He was not to "Depart this court without the leave thereof & in the Mean time to be of his good behaviour." Witnesses Jacob Rodgers (security: Benjamin Phillips), Benjn Phillips (security: John Chandler) and Raymond Riley (security: WilliamRiley) each posted £10:00:00 bonds for their appearance to testify against John Fluharty.2

Land sold*1801She sold land in 1801 at tract A121, Modest Town, Accomack Co, VA. In 1801 Spencer and Peggy Hickman and Isaiah and Sarah Hickman sold their 60 acres to Major Hinman, who later acquired the 64-acre Stewart piece. Hinman later died intestate, and was survived by a widow Seymour who previously had been the wife of Hampton Hickman.1

Land bought*1801He bought land in 1801 at tract A121, Modest Town, Accomack Co, VA. Spencer and Peggy Hickman and Isaiah and Sarah Hickman sold their 60 acres to Major Hinman, who later acquired the 64-acre Stewart piece. Hinman later died intestate and was survived by a widow Seymour who previously had been the wife of Hampton Hickman. In 1828 after some sepcific bequests, Mrs. Hinman left the balance of her estate to four sons. The next year Littleton A. & Mary D. Hinman, Lewis Hinman, and Luther & Nancy Hinman, united in a deed to William Bundick for their 3/4 interest in the 125 acres and a gristmill; four years later Colomore C. & Lovey H. Hinman sold the other 1/4 part to Bundick.3 
Census head1810Major was listed as a head of household in the census of 1810 at Accomack Parish, Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Major Hinman a head of household, age 26-45 (born 1765-1785). (NOTE: The other Major Hinman was shown as of M(oses), age 45+.) Listed with him were 4M0-10, 1F26-45 & 9 slaves.1 
Death*before 1820He died before 1820 at Accomack Co, VA. One Major Hinman died before 25 Feb 1811 and evidently another Major Hinman died before 23 Feb 1818.4

To son William land where I now live. To son Severn East. To son Southy East ground to set a house & shop upon on the South-west corner of the land if he should want it on Deep Creek Road. To son Asia East. To son Richard East. To daughter Mary East. To daughter Sarah. To son Nehemiah East. Balance of estate to wife Scarbrough to distribute among the children as she thinks most convenient. Witnesses Thomas Metcaff, Peggy Metcaff, and Elizabeth Ross.1 
Chancery suit*1797She was named in a chancery suit in 1797 at Accomack Co, VA. Severin East, Southy East and Richard East brought a chancery suit against Mary East, Asa East, Sally East and Nehemiah East. The dispute was over a tract of land in St. George Parish, Accomack County containing about three acres being the land which a certain Southy East Senior deceased resided on during his lifetime and devised to William East who died intestate and without issue in 1796 leaving both the plaintiffs and the defendants who were his siblings of the whole blood as his next of kin (there being no mother living). Since the defendants were minors, under the age of 21, they could not consent to the sale without a decree from the chancery court. William Gibb acted as guardian for the minor children. A summons was issued which ordered the defendants to appear in court on 12 March 1797.3

A note dated 27 May 1831 indicates he was allowed land for three years’ service as a seaman in the Virginia State Navy. A statement dated 25 June 1832 indicates that William East, Asia East, Richard East, Sarah East and Nehemiah East children and devisees of South East deceased formerly a soldier in the Revolutionary War are dead and that each died intestate, unmarried and without issue and that Severn East, Southy East and Mary Bloxom, wife of Elijah Bloxom are the only heirs at law and devisees of said Southy East now living with said Severn, Southy and Mary as the only heirs of the deceased children and also of the widow of Southy [not named] who also died intestate. Immediately below this is a statement indicating that on 29 June 1832, the Accomack County court certified that Nehemiah Walker formerly a solder in the Revolutionary War died intestate and that no will of the said Nehemiah Walker was ever proven or offered for probate.4
