Birth*circa 1775Tatman Truitt was born circa 1775 at Sussex Co, DE.1
Marriage*circa 1800He married Comfort Short, daughter of Eli Short and Jessie Messick, circa 1800.1
Death*1836Tatman Truitt died in 1836 at Scott Co, KY. He died intestate. Scott Co, KY tax records confirmed that Comfort Short Truitt (daughter of Eli and Jessie Short) and her son, Short Truitt, held 186 acres of land together after Tatman’s demise. Comfort disappears from tax records c. 1844-45. Short Truitt is in control thereafter. An aside: There is a mystery MAN, born 1766, De., who is Short Truitt’s neighbor in 1850. His name is shown : Comfort! Census indicates “he” is a mason; lives with Sarah Truitt, 1799, De., Mary Truitt, De., 1794. Apparently a lot of folks from Internet postings, consider Sally Short, who married Thomas Butler, Eli’s daughter—I tend to agree with them since I’ve seen Thomas Butler mentioned in Scott Co, KY. There are some illegible areas in Eli’s will, so there might be another daughter. I'm startling to see Abram (b. 1770) as Eli’s first son. Wonder if he married his cousin? (Source: June Chalon.)1

Land sold*14 September 1866John Rogers sold land on 14 September 1866 at Pungoteague, St. George Parish, Accomack Co, VA. Captain John Drummond purchased the Old Home Place that his mother had owned from his brothers and sisters. They were William T. Drummond and Harriett his wife of Isle of Wright Co, VA; George Edward and Ada Kellam his wife of Accomack Co, VA; Robert W. Guy and Caroline E. Drummond, his wife of Portsmouth, VA; Emily Drummond (wife of John Rogers) of Portsmouth, VA; Robert Augustus Drummond and Margaret Sturgis, his wife of Accomack Co, VA; and Louis D. Drummond (wife: 1- Hester Benson and 2- Mary A. Bell) of Accomack Co, VA. Ann does not appear on the deed and may have died. Also, Joseph P. Drummond (wife: Rose Cutler) does not appear but it may be that he was not quite 21 years old at this time. It is interesting to note that relationship with the Guy family. Clarissy's brothers and sister were Robert, George and Emma. As stated, Captain John Drummond married Clarissy Guy. Robert Guy married Captain John's sister Caroline. George Guy married Arnithis Garrison, the sister of Captain John's second wife, Bettie. Hazel (Guy) Young, the granddaughter of George Guy and daughter of his son George, is a close friend of the Drummond family and currently lives in Keller, VA.4
