In an indenture, Dec. 24, 1805, Wilkins Warrick and Sarah Warrick, his wife, of Woodford County Co., to Newbold Crockett, of Fayette, whereas by patent dated Aug. 8, 1750, there was granted by Charles, Absolute Lord and Proprietor of the then Provence of Maryland, and Averton, Lord Baron of Baltimore, onto ABRAMHAM SHORT a certain tract in Somerset (now Sussex) County containing 100 acres, known as SHORT'S CHANCE, bounded on the southeast by the Nanticoke River near the near, by Granville branch in a neck of land on the Carr's neck, near land of Thomas Jones. And whereas Abraham Short departed this life and by entail the land descended to his son ALLEN SHORT during his life, and thereafter to his granddaughter SARAH SHORT, daughter of said Allen, provided Allen should die without lawful son, and whereas Allen Short left no son, the title became vested in Sarah short. And whereas by agreement before the death of Allen, a patent issued to Sarah Short for quantity of land adjoining the said 100 acres, containing 143 acres, known as Waller's Defeat, bounded by Nathaniel Waller's survey and others. And whereas the said Sarah has since intermarried with said Wilkins Warrick, this indenture witnesses that for 75 pounds, there is conveyed the said lands. John Watkins, Witness.
