Marriage*circa 1660He married Elizabeth (-----) circa 1660.1
Anecdote*circa 1667 Although no evidence has been found that Thomas (10) Graves had children, chronology and geography suggest that he is the most likely member of the family to be the father of John (41) Graves. See Charles H. Hamlin, "Genealogy of the Graves Family of Virginia," The Virginia Gazette, Williamsburg, VA 28 Aug and 4 Sept 1959. John Bennett Boddie, Southside Virginia Families, I (Redwood City, Calif., 1955), p. 204, identified this John as John (99) Graves , but Hamlin's analysis of the extant records suggests this is highly unlikely.2
Land wit deed*1695Thomas (10) Graves witnessed a deed in 1695 at York Hampton Parish, York Co, VA. It was in this year that this Thomas Graves with Elizabeth, probably his wife, witnessed a deed in York Hampton Parish, York Co, VA.1

Anecdote*23 December 1772 On 23 Dec 1772 in Spotsylvania County Ann Graves conveyed a Negro to her granddaughter Barbara Pettus. Since Ann was not married to Thomas (97) Graves until 1758-60, it would appear that she was the mother of Barbara's father William Pettus rather than the mother of Susannah (252) Graves. See Pocahontas Hutchinson Stay, The Pettus Family, comp. and ed. by A. Bohmer Rudd (Washington, 1957), p. 22, for a tenative identification which suggests she was Ann (Hart) Pettus, widow of William Pettus.1
Death*before 15 August 1782She died before 15 August 1782 at Spotsylvania Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Ann Graves was granted to Rice Graves and an inventory of her estate was ordered made.1
