M, b. circa 1620, d. before 29 June 1658
Last Edited12 Mar 2013
Birth*circa 1620William Robinson (Quaker) was born circa 1620.2
Anecdote*1658 Quakers had many conflicts with the authorities, both Church and State, and as early as 1654 they refused to pay their parish tithes. There may have been other, earlier Quaker missionaries, but the county records prove that one William Robinson was on the Shore in that capacity in 1658, when he was arrrested and sent across the bay for trial there. In addition to that, many local people who had harbored or entertained him were fined or otherwise punished.3
Death*before 29 June 1658He died before 29 June 1658 at Northampton Co, Va. It was on this date that the sheriff was to take custody of and sell the estate of William Robinson at public outcry (but his death was not mentioned).1
