Land bought*1718He bought land in 1718 at tract N127, north of Exmore, Northampton Co, VA. In 1711 William and Hanah Heath sold part of this tract to Jonah Jackson, and 7 years later he and his wife Scarburgh resold to Jonah Belote, and also gave him a lease on 35 acres belonging to tract N125. In 1728 Jonas and Elizabeth Belote assigned both pieces to John Potter, merchant. In 1741 Jonah Belote and his wife Mary (relict of John Potter) released her dower rights to John Potter of Accomack and he sold the Wainhouse part to James Delpech.3 
Anecdote*1718 In 1718 in N'hamp Court Loose Papers is was shown Jonas Belott Ordinary license was unpaid.4

Land released*1741He released his rights in land in 1741 at tract N127, north of Exmore, Northampton Co, VA. In 1711 William and Hanah Heath sold part of this tract to Jonah Jackson, and 7 years later he and his wife Scarburgh resold to Jonah Belote, and also gave him a lease on 35 acres belonging to tract N125. In 1728 Jonas and Elizabeth Belote assigned both pieces to John Potter, merchant. In 1741 Jonah Belote and his wife Mary (relict of John Potter) released her dower rights to John Potter of Accomack and he sold the Wainhouse part to James Delpech.11 
Court - statement in*February 1742/43He's statement was recorded in court records in February 1742/43 at Northampton Co, VA. Richard Johnson petitions to have 1 acres of land opposite his land on Dewyes Branch in order to build a mill. The owner, Jonah Belote refuses to give permission.12 
Court - defendant*November 1744He was a defendant in a court case in November 1744 at Northampton Co, VA. The Justices sue Jonah Belote and Mary, his wife the widow of John Potter for £1000 as by an Oblgatory Note made right after the death. The said Mary was to prepare and submit an inventory of the estate. The Court ordered that said estate be divided in 1735 between the said Jonah Belote and the said Potter's children: John, Edmund, Absebeth, Nichlis and Sarah. This suit claims that the son Edmund, has not been paid his legal representative share (£53.15.6) of his father's estate. Judgment - Edmund's share to be paid; no details as to the £1000 sued by the Justices.13 
Court - defendantSeptember 1749He was a defendant in a court case in September 1749 at Northampton Co, VA. An order to the Sheriff of Accomack Co directed him to summon Jonah Belote and Mary his wife to appear in Northampton Court and bring Nicholas Potter and Sarah Potter, orphans to render an account of their guardianship.14 
Death*before 10 August 1762He died before 10 August 1762 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Jonah Belote was granted to Mary Belote. Appraisers: Arthur Robins, Nathaniel Bell, William Bell & Zerobabell Downing.15

Belote, who was "desirous of relieving his body from prison."2

In 1686 John Walter Jr. and his wife Sarah deeded 195 1/2 acres to his brother Thomas, but he may have died without issue as John later was again the owner of the whole.2 
Will*before 7 January 1670/71John made a will before 7 January 1670/71 at Northampton Co, VA. Nuncup. To my eldest son John the plantation I now live upon, and when my second son comes of age he to be seated upon the other part of the dividend. Remaining estate to my wife (no name) to bring up my children. Witt: John (JC) Core, Samuel Glue (or Glewe).1

It was in this year that George and Esther Darby sold the 100 acres to Churchill Darby, and in 1758 he (wife Mary) left to his son Elijah. The next year Elijah Darby (wife Mary) left to his daughter who apparently married Southy Mears, who as reported had acquired some of the Mears part in his own right.2

Administrator*1 January 1711/12Daniel was named as administrator of an estate on 1 January 1711/12 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of William Darby was granted to his son Daniel Darby & John Walter with Arthur Laylor & Daniel Darby Sr. securities.2
