It was in this year that Thomas Melson of Somerset County, Maryland sold to John Hoffington of the same place 250 acres of Partners Choice. The deed shows that the land was conveyed by William Robinson to Samuel Melson, and the grantor is the grandson and heir-at-law of the said Samuel Melson (Somerset Co, MD Deed Book O-23, page 191). According to Ed Wright he only sold him 80 acres.1,2

On 15 May 1788 Hannah Coe, daughter of Wiliam Melson, claimed by death of brother Luke Melson, sold to Elizabeth Melson, her rights to 50 acres. On 6 Feb 1795 Elizabeth Winnants sold to Littleton Robins.1

Apparently Thomas did not want to be a waterman as his brothers Samuel and Isaac were. Thomas and Grace lived in Coventry Parish, Somerset Co, MD on Mitchells Lot for the remainder of their lives.1
