Boggs, 72, of 771 Beaumont Ave., will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ransdell Funeral Home, Harrodsburg, by the Revs. Mike Power, Y.D. Westerfield and Pete Arnold. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. He died Wednesday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born April 18, 1920, in South Charleston, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Nottingham and Virginia Rader Boggs. He attended Asbury College and served in Willington Shipyards during World War II, where he developed a number of patents that he donated to the Merchant Marine. He was a retired regional manager of Cudahy Packing Co. and a member of Harrodsburg United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Eloise Leonard Boggs; two sons, Tom Boggs of Somerville, S.C., and Bob Boggs of Carrollton; two brothers, Leroy Boggs of Simpsonville, S.C., and Joseph C. Boggs of Harrodsburg; and two grandchildren. Visitation is after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. (Published in The Advocate-Messenger, Danville Ky., Friday, November 6, 1992.)

Revel and Margaret (Polk) Colburn were well educated and though advanced in years he taught school for several terms after settling in Indiana. His wife was a physician and engaged in active practice. A sovereign remedy administered by her for the prevalent disease of malaria was "Rock Oil," put up in small bottles, and now known as petroleum, which was skimmed from the surfaces of springs.
