Will - Father's*26 August 1763Elisha was named in his father's will on 26 August 1763 at Accomack Co, VA. In his will William Whealton gave son Elisha Whealton 190 acres where I now live, also 75 acres of land & for want of heirs to my youngest son Smith Whealton. To all my children that is married, viz: William, James, Thomas & Joyce. To daughter Esther. Bal. of estate to my surviving children, William, James, Thomas, Elisha, Smith, Joyce & Esther. Son William Exr. Witt: Joseph Mathews, Jr., George Mathews, Henry Crossly. At probate Thomas Teackle app. guardian to Nehemiah Whealton, heir at law to the testator.2 
Land inherited*1763He inherited land in 1763 at tract A173, between Wattsville & Atlantic, Accomack Co, VA. In 1694 Joseph Blake sold his part of this tract as 90 acres to Jhon Wheelton. Afther the death of Joseph, an elder brother John Blake claimed this land in reversion, but in 1709 he gave a quiteclaim to Wheelton. In 1717 Wheelton (wife Catherine) left to his son William, who in 1763 left to ihs son Elisha and after his death a survey in 1801 showed 168 acres then owned for the heirs.3 
Marriage*circa 1775He married Ann Matthews, daughter of Joseph Matthews and Susanna (180) Godwin, circa 1775.1 
Death*before 28 September 1795Elisha (of Wm) Whealton died before 28 September 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Elisha Whealton was granted to Anne Whealton with William Downing and George Matthews securities.4

Robert Lee (Bob) Wessells, 84, husband of Hazel Tyndall Wessells, passed away peacefully at their residence on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Bob was born on Chincoteague Island, January 2, 1927, and was the son of Cecil S. and Pauline Booth Wessells. He was predeceased by sisters Margaret Ann Wessells and Persis E. Potts, and brother Donald E. Wessells. Bob was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, member of the American Legion, and a veteran of World War II, serving in Japan with the United States Occupational Forces. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service having served faithfully for approximately 35 years. During his retirement, Bob enjoyed spending time with family and traveling. Walking and biking the trails on Assateague Island with friends was another of his favorite pastimes. Bob was an avid reader, and had a love of the English language, which he shared with his children and grandchildren. Music was a special part of his life, and he always enjoyed sharing a good joke. To his family and many others who knew him, he will always be remembered as a wonderful father and grandfather, loving husband, and honorable man. Other than his devoted wife of 61 years, Bob is survived by his son William G. (Jerry) Wessells and his wife Donna, Wallops Island, VA, daughters Mary Ellen Robins and her husband Claiborne, Richmond, VA, and Sherry W. Kleckner, Wallops Island, VA; grandchildren Laura Waisner and her husband, Brian, Colorado Springs, CO, Megan Moore, Gloucester, VA, Lee Kleckner and Erin Eberhart, Pittsville, MD, Hartley Robins, Richmond, VA, and Mark Robins, Richmond, VA; great-grandchildren Taylor Derwin, Ava Kleckner, and Emily Waisner; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Travis Deloach, will be held Sunday, May 29th at Christ United Methodist Church, Chincoteague, VA, at 2 p.m.,with an visitation a hour before the service from 1-2 p.m. Interment will be held at John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery, Temperanceville, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church Expansion Fund, 6253 Church Street, Chincoteague, VA 23336.1

Land cause*30 August 1820She was named in a land cause on 30 August 1820 at Accomack Co, VA. That a certain John K. Evans, late of the County of Accomack, was in his lifetime and at the time of his death seized of a piece of land in the County of Accomack, containing 80 acres, and being so seized departed this life on the ____ day of ____ 1815 intestate, leaving your oratrix Margaret Evans his widow and four children, viz: Elizabeth, Thomas, Ann & Margaret, to all of which said children the said land descended subject to the dower of your oratrix, Margaret &c.1 
Death*4 June 1822She died on 4 June 1822 at Accomack Co, VA, at age 14. Elizabeth M. Evans departed this wife Saturday 4th June at 6 o'clock in the morning, 1822.2

Anecdote28 August 1751 On 28 Aug 1751 George Perkins (servant of Andrew Gilchrist, adm of James Gibson, dec'd) was brought before the court for running away for 30 days. Ordered that George serve extra time according to law and also for the cost of his capture at the rate of 800 lbs tobacco per year.2 
Anecdote*27 November 1751 Geo. Holden brought his mulatto servant George Perkins to court complaining that Perkins was absent thirteen days. Ordered that Perkins serve his master an extra 26 days for his absence and repay (with extra service) the expense of capturing him twice (400 lbs tobacco) plus court costs.1
