Biography*1834James and Patience Marshall had another daughter, in addition to Patience and Triffany, who would have been born between 1801-1810, as the 1800 census showed 2 daughters, and the 1810 census showed 3 daughters. This daughter was probably the Maria Marshall who married John W. Melson in 1835, with her brother Aaron Marshall as one of the securities. She would have died before either of her parents, as she was not listed with John W. Melson in the 1850 census.

Biography*The proof that this Ann Marshall was the d/o Henry Marshall is based on the following: There were 2 daughters in Henry's household in 1810 under 10. The other daughter, Elizabeth was identified as a d/o Henry, s/o Sampson, on her marriage bond. Ann Marshall married Francis Boggs in 1833 and they were living only 4 households from her sister Elizabeth (Marshall) Knight in 1850 and her age, 45, matched that of the unidentified daughter in Henry's household in 1810. In 1860 she and her husband were living next door to her brother Stephen Marshall. Final proof is in Acc Deeds 1859, p. 2.

Biography*1779Leah (Marshall) Chisher is assumed to have been a daughter of Sampson and Mary Marshall because Sampson and his sons were the only Marshalls living in the Cattail/Messongo area with the Chessers in this time period. Also, Leah's husband, William Cheshire, was the security on the marriage of Leah's brother John Marshall in 1802.

Anecdote*17 May 1787 He was evidently under age 16 at the time the 1787 personal property tax list was made as there were no white males above 16 and under 21 in the household of Jabez Cheshire and he was not listed separately.2 
Will - Witnessed*5 June 1797William witnessed a will on 5 June 1797 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Arthur Watson, Henry Trader & William Chesher witnessed the will of James Benson, wife Scarburgh. (NOTE: Turman states that James Benson lived in the Messongo Creek area.)3,4

He saw action in the last few months of World War II, serving in the 6th Division of the Marine Corps on Okinawa. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Carpenter Wessells; two step-daughters, Deanna Lee McDonald and her husband Wesley of Chincoteague, and Constance Ann Eisenhour of Hillsboro, Ore; three stepsons, Brian David Roberts of Ledyard, Conn; Kim Alan Garcia and his wife Barbara of Breckenridge, Colo, and Seth Anthony Carcia and his wife Christina of Fairfiled, Calif. He also leaves four nieces and two nephews, Betty Faye Hodge, Kathy Wynn, and Ronnie Ward, all of Chespeake, VA; Rosemary Nelson of Bloxom; Elena Mae Miles of Saxis, and Don Taylor of Flordia. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Jessie Sterling Wessells; three brothers: and three sisters. He loved life and the traveling he did in the last few years. His favorite was going up in a hot air ballon.2
