He could not be found in any other Acc Co Census. Gilbert is also listed as an heir of Ephriam Hall in the Acc Orders, 1832-36, p17, dated 25 Sep 1832. This is the basis for assuming that he was a son of Ephriam, although the record does not name him as a son of Ephraim, only as an heir. On his marriage licencse bond, another Gilbert Hall and a James White were listed as securities.

Biography*Polly, wife of George Hall, birth date, according to the 1800 Census, was between 1775-1785, which is inconsent with the birth shown here. Her birth here is based on being the mother of the male, age 16-26, assumed to be George Hall, in the 1800 Census. According to Acc Orphan Account, 1787-1805, p520 & p521, "24 Sep 1798 - George Hall orphan of George to Polly Hall, to board and cloths from 5 Nov 1796 until this time, 6.60 L (pounds)." Also on that same date, "Peggy Hall, orphan of George, to Polly Hall, to board and cloths from 5 Nov 1796 until this time, 6.60 L (pounds)." Also on that same date, John Hall, orphan of George, to Polly Hall, to board and cloths form 5 Nov 1796 until this time, 6.60 L (pounds)." Also on p669 & p670 of the same book there is a list of purchased items for George, Peggy and John Hall, orphans of George, up thru 31 Dec 1799.

Biography*28 May 1825John C. Hall is listed as an enlisted man in an Acc Co Company of Light Infantry, 2nd Regiment, as of 28 May 1825, commanded by Capt. Tully R. Wise. John C. Hall is listed as a head of household in the 1830 Census in St. George's Parish, Acc Co, age 30-40, b.c. 1795. He was the only person in the household. He was the only Hall in St. George's Parish at this time, all the other Halls were in Acc Parish. John C. Hall is by this court appointed guardian to Mary Ann, Eliza and John Hall orphans of George Hall, dec'd and he thereupon together with John B. Ailworth and Raymond Riley secruities thereto entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $1,000 conditioned according to law (Acc Orders 1832-36, p. 17, dated 25 Sep 1832). According to another entry on that same page, John C. Hall was the brother of George, the father of these children, and John C. and George were the sons of George Hall the eldest. He is also listed in the 1840 Census as John C. Hall, again in St. George's Parish, age 40-50, b.c. 1795. There were 2 other males, age 20-30, and a female, age 40-50, which would put his wife b.c. 1795. Louis D. Drummond was the security on the 1848 Acc Co M.L.B. of John C. Hall, widower, and Catherine C. Bagwell, widow of Henry. He was not found in the 1850 Acc Co Census, but a John Hall is in the 1860 Census in Wiseville PO, St. Geroge's Parish, age 62, b.c. 1798. He is living alone and a farmer. His real estate is valued at $4,500 and his personal property at $6,000. His place of birth is shown as Acc Co.

Hall is appointed guardian 'ad litem' to the defendant Peggy Douglas Bagwell, who there upon appeared by her said guardian and filed her answer to which the plaintiff replied generally. And the defendants John C. Hall and Catharine his wife appeared and filed their joint answer. Whereupon this cause came on to be heard by consent of the adult defendants by their counsel and of the infant defendant by her said guardian 'ad litem' upon the bill, the said answer, replication, exhibit and examinations of witnesses and was argued by counsel: On consideration whereof, the Court being of opinion that the interest of the infant defendant Peggy Douglass Bagwell manifestly requires the sale of her real estate in the plaintiff's bill described, and that by such sale the rights of others will not be violated, doth adjudge, order and decree, that Robert J. Poulson be and he hereby is authorized to make sale either at public auction or by private contract in such lots and parcels as he may deem best of the Tavern House & Lot in Drummond Town, adjoining the lands of Edmund R. Allen and others ___ also of the lot of land containing nine (9) acres, more or less, adjoining the lands of Thomas Lilliston and others and also a lot or parcel of wood-land, containing eighteen (18) acres, more or less, adjoining the lands of Henry Melson and others, in this county, whereof Henry Bagwell died seized and possessed, upon the following terms, that is to say ___ upon a credit of six, twelve and eighteen months from the 1st day of January 1851, in equal instalments, with interest thereon from the said day, __ That a lien be retained on the said premises, and that the purchaser or purchasers thereof execute separate bonds with satisfactory personal security for each instalment of the purchase money, __ That the purchaser or purchasers respectively bear the expense of writing and recording all necessary and proper deeds of conveyance and that the current year's rents be reserved and that the purchaser or purchasers, respectively, be entitled to the possession of the premises on the 2nd day of January next. __ And it is further ordered that the said Robert J. Poulson as to the sale of such of said lots or parcels of land as he may sell at auction, give at least twenty (20) days previous public notice of the time and place of such sale by advertisements posted at the front door of the Court House of this County and in the neighborhood of the premises and sale. And it is further ordered that the said John C. Hall and Catharine his wife be allowed one sixth (1/6) of the net proceeds of said sales in lieu of their right of dower in right of said Catharine in the said premises, upon their uniting in said sale and conveyances when made.7

And the defendants John C. Hall and Catharine his wife appeared and filed their joint answer. Whereupon this cause came on to be heard by consent of the adult defendants by their counsel and of the infant defendant by her said guardian 'ad litem' upon the bill, the said answer, replication, exhibit and examinations of witnesses and was argued by counsel: On consideration whereof, the Court being of opinion that the interest of the infant defendant Peggy Douglass Bagwell manifestly requires the sale of her real estate in the plaintiff's bill described, and that by such sale the rights of others will not be violated, doth adjudge, order and decree, that Robert J. Poulson be and he hereby is authorized to make sale either at public auction or by private contract in such lots and parcels as he may deem best of the Tavern House & Lot in Drummond Town, adjoining the lands of Edmund R. Allen and others ___ also of the lot of land containing nine (9) acres, more or less, adjoining the lands of Thomas Lilliston and others and also a lot or parcel of wood-land, containing eighteen (18) acres, more or less, adjoining the lands of Henry Melson and others, in this county, whereof Henry Bagwell died seized and possessed, upon the following terms, that is to say ___ upon a credit of six, twelve and eighteen months from the 1st day of January 1851, in equal instalments, with interest thereon from the said day, __ That a lien be retained on the said premises, and that the purchaser or purchasers thereof execute separate bonds with satisfactory personal security for each instalment of the purchase money, __ That the purchaser or purchasers respectively bear the expense of writing and recording all necessary and proper deeds of conveyance and that the current year's rents be reserved and that the purchaser or purchasers, respectively, be entitled to the possession of the premises on the 2nd day of January next. __ And it is further ordered that the said Robert J. Poulson as to the sale of such of said lots or parcels of land as he may sell at auction, give at least twenty (20) days previous public notice of the time and place of such sale by advertisements posted at the front door of the Court House of this County and in the neighborhood of the premises and sale. And it is further ordered that the said John C. Hall and Catharine his wife be allowed one sixth (1/6) of the net proceeds of said sales in lieu of their right of dower in right of said Catharine in the said premises, upon their uniting in said sale and conveyances when made.6
