Will - Uncle's*9 December 1861Thomas was named in his uncle's will on 9 December 1861 at Accomack Co, VA. In his will Isaiah N. Bagwell lent to loving wife as dower in my land during her life viz that portion of the farm called Mount Prospect where I live and the land that I cultivate, with privilege in the swamp and also the personal property indoors and out so long as she may wish to keep house. The balance of my estate she will receive as dower as the law directs. To son Isaiah Wm. Bagwell all my lands and personal estate subject to above provisions but in case he should die before he arrives at 21 without leaving a lawful child living then in the following way viz: To James Daniel Titlow at 21 years of age $2000.00. To nephew Samuel Isaiah Walston my Mount Prospect farm but if he should die before 21 or without leaving a lawful child then the same to my nephew Wm. B. Walston by his releasing to his brother and sister his interest in his mother's land purchased of Peter Shield. To my mother my Greenbush farm, 350 acres, during her life, and then together with the balance of my estate real and personal to be equally divided between Nephews and Niece William B. Walston, Thomas C. Walston, and Rose B. Walston. Executors brother-in-law William Walston and friend John D. Tyler, the former to be guardian to my son. Proved by Oaths of John W. H. Parker and John W. Gillet. Sureties Sylvester R. Chandler, John W. H. Parker, James R. Garrison and John W. Gillet.2

Birth*14 February 1848Dr. John Nottingham Upshur was born on 14 February 1848 at Norfolk, VA.1 
Biography*He attended Virginia Military Institue where he was an honor graduate of the class of 1864. He was wounded in the Battle of New Market when the cadets were called to face Union troops during the Civil War. Later he studied medicine at the University of Richmond and at the Medical College of Virginia where he graduated in 1868. He settled in Richmond in 1869 and became an outstanding member of the medical profession of that city.1

Birth*28 October 1881Maj. Gen. William Peterkin Upshur was born on 28 October 1881 at Richmond, VA.1 
Biography*He graduated from Virginia Military Institue in 1902, studied law at the University of Virginia and entered the US Marine Corps in 1904 as Second Lieutant. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor of conspicuous gallantry in Haiti in 1914. At the time of his death he was a Major General and was the Comanding General of the Marines of the Pacific and second ranking officer of the Marine Corps. In 1949 the New York Shipbuilding Corp. began building the ocean liner, President Hayes, for the American President Lines at Camden, NJ. War broke out in Korea in June 1950 and three months later the US Navy acquired her for military service. She renamed the USNS Upshur in honor of this dedicated Marine.1 
Marriage*1904He married Lucy Taylor Munford in 1904.2 
Death*21 July 1943Maj. Gen. William Peterkin Upshur died on 21 July 1943 at Sitka, AK, at age 61.1 
Burial*William was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington Co, VA.2

(NOTE: the George Parker Bible shows he was born on 9 Jul 1787.2,3,4 
Will - Uncle's*18 December 1807Severn was named in his uncle's will on 18 December 1807 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my Godson Severn Eyre Parker in the will of William Eyre, wife Grace D. Eyre. He was given £1,000 pounds.5 
Marriage*13 July 1811He married Maria Teackle Savage, daughter of Thomas Littleton (97) Savage and Mary Burton (162) Savage, on 13 July 1811 at Northampton Co, VA. George Parker was the security on the M.L.B. of Severn E. Parker to Maria Teackle Savage. The were married on 17 Jul 1811. Her remains and those of her deceased son Frederick E.M. Upshur were interred in the same grave at Vaucluse, Northampton, Va on the 7th of October 1839 & a funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. William G. Jackson on the 18th of the same month.3

Upshur, departed this life in the borough of Norfolk on the 12th day of September 1837, aged 3 weeks -- His remains were deposited in the family vault of Giles B. Cook, Esqr, in Norfolk, from whence they were afterwards removed & interred in the same grave with his mother at Vaucluse, Northampton, Virginia on the 7th of Octr 1839.2

Mayo in the borough of Norfolk, Virginia on the morning of the 26th of September 1839 and was baptized by the Rev. Benjamin M. Miller in the evening of the 4th of October following. Sponsors were her father and her Aunt Juliet U. Elliott.1,2 
Death*25 May 1841She died on 25 May 1841 at Cedar Grove, Acc Co, VA, at age 1. Peggy Eyre Parker Upshur, daughter of George P. & Peggy E.P. Upshur, died at Cedar Grove, the residence of her cousin Doctor Arthur W. Upshur at half past 10 p.m. on the 25th day of May 1845(sic), aged one year & eight months. She was interred in a double grave at Vaucluse on the 27th of the same month a funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. Wm. G. Jackson. Signed G.P.U. (NOTE: Since she was born 26 Sep 1839, she must have died 25 May 1841 to be aged 1 yr & 8 months.)2

Birth*14 August 1783Littleton Upshur II was born on 14 August 1783 at Vaucluse, N'hamp Co, VA.1 
Marriage*23 December 1810He married Mary Vaughn Wilson, daughter of Mayor Thomas Wilson and Mary Vaughn, on 23 December 1810. They made their home at "Pear Plain."1 
Biography*In 1811 his father gave him a tract of land a few miles from "Vaucluse" farther up Church Neck on Hungars Creek, know as "Pear Plain." He represented N'hamp Co for several years in both the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 11 of Eastville and a Vestryman of Hungars Church as his father had been. He served as Captain in the 27th Regiment of Virginia Miitia for N'hamp Co in the War of 1812 along with several of his brothers. In later years he was know as Colonel Littleton Upshur and his name was so recorded in many of the records of N'hamp and Accomack Counties.1 
Will - Brother's*19 June 1820Littleton was named in his brother's will on 19 June 1820 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my brother Littleton in the will of Caleb B. Upshur.2 
Will*4 March 1830Littleton made a will on 4 March 1830 at Northampton Co, VA. I order and direct that the whole of my property, except specified legacies shall be equally divided amongst all my children, to wit: Ann, Arthur, Juliet, Ellen, Littleton and Thomas Upshur. I appoint my executor, guardian to all my children. If my sister J. U. Elliott should desire to keep my family together my executor is authorized to keep up my farm in the same manner as it is now carried on. I give to my daughter Anne E. Upshur the mahogany wardrobe and washstand which are now in her possession. I give to my son Arthur W. Upshur the gold watch that I usually wear. I give to my daughter Juliet L. Upshur the mahogany wardrobe that stands in my chamber and a set of gilt tea china that was a present to her mother. I give to my daughter Ellen A. Upshur the bureau, wash stand and portable desk that were her mothers. I give to my son Littleton Upshur the whole of my silver plate the gold sleeve buttons and breast buckle that I usually wear. I give to my son Thomas W. Upshur one hundred dollars which I direct my executor to deposit in the savings Bank of Philadelphia until my said son Thomas shall attain to the age of twenty one years. I desire that my executor divide my Library, or such books thereof as he may deem worth preserving amongst my three sons, and my nephew Littleton U. Mayo son of Peter P. Mayo. I appoint my brother Abel P. Upshur my executor and in case of his death or neglect or refusal to qualify then I appoint my brother George P. Upshur and in case of his death or neglect or refusal to qualify then I appoint my brother in law Peter P. Mayo. Signed, Littleton Upshur. Codicil dated: August 15, 1832. No witnesses. Death*9 October 1832He died on 9 October 1832 at Pear Plain, N'hamp Co, VA, at age 49. He died after a painful illness of 9 weeks at his residence in Northampton, Colonel Lyttleton Upshur - the ornament of the Court of which he had long been a member - frequently a member of Legislature - a highly respected and valuable citizen and an excellent man (Richmond Whig, 19 Oct 1832 issue).1
