Anecdote*6 October 1834 When Savage Littleton prepared his Revolutionary War pension papers on 6 Oct 1834 he said he was aged 84 on 3 March last (born 3 Mar 1750), that his place of birth was Kent Co, DE, that he migrated to Johnson Co, NC "when small" before the Rev. War, and that he was in Georgia circa 1787-1801. He first went to enlist in teh US forces at Moore's Creek, but arrived after the battle. Recruited by Henry Wm. Harrington, he enlisted under Capt. Henry Council. After marching to Haddrell's Point, he joined Maj. Horry, Col. Horry and Gen. Armstrong the day before Sir Peter Parker's fleet enterd Charleston Harbor. Harrington was promoted to major., James Hicks became the captain and Lewis Conner became the lieutenant. He was in the battle at Hanging Rock (7 Aug 1780) and next served under Gen. Gates. He was taken prisoner shortly after Gates' defeat at Camden (15 Sep 1780), was paroled, and subsequently reenlisted, serving until the hostilities ended. He said he married in South Carolina at the end of the war (circa 1784). He lived in SC 2-3 years, moved to GA for 14 years, moved to KY for 6-7 years, returned to SC for 2 years, was in Lexington KY for 1 year, moved to northwest KY for 5-6 years, lived in Nashville, TN for 1 year, was in Robinson Co, TN for 7-8 years and finally settled in Pulaski Co, AR. His pension declaration was witnessed by Isaiah Palmer, Wiley Palmer and Johnson Hillyard.1 
Death*1838Savage died in 1838 at Arkansas.2

It was on this date that Charles Littleton was granted 150 acres in Berkley County in the fork between Broad and Saludy Rivers and is situate lying and being bounded SW on a branch of Broad River called Enoree River the waters of Santee and other sides on vacant land. Certified on 7 Feb 1767. Charles appears to have been part of a group that included Thomas Wadlington Sr. and his sons that, according to John Belton O'Neall's Annals of Newberry (1858) moved from Frederick Co, VA to what was then Berkeley Co, SC in 1766 settling along the Enoree River..6

Death*1780Charles died in 1780 at Ninety Six District, SC. After the British captured Charleston, SC in May 1780 all SC citizens were required to resume the character of British subjects. To help reinstiture British control a brigade of loyalist militia was organized in Ninety Six District. The Tory militia skirmish at Clarke's Ford in 1780 results in severals deaths and Charles Littleton was taken prisoner, carried to Ninety-Six gaol, where he also contacted the small pox and died before he reached home (John B. O'Neall's The Annals of Newberry, 1858, p. 160)..8

This regiment was among those that retook Fort Ninety-Six, where his brother Charles died in Jun 1780.
