That a certain Elizabeth Wallop, late the wife of a certain Skinner Wallop, Sr., departed this life on the ____ day of ____ 1792, the said Skinner and Elizabeth being seized in fee simple in right of said Elizabeth of and in a tract of land situate on Chincoteague Island containing 42 acres; that the said Elizabeth Wallop at the time of her death left six children, viz: John Wallop, William Wallop, George Wallop, Peggy Watts, then the wife of a certain David Watts, Ibbey Coard, then the wife of a certain John Coard & Polly Welburn, then the wife of a certain Drummond Welburn; that upon the death of the said Elizabeth Wallop the said land descended to all her aforesaid children subject to the right of the aforesaid Skinner Wallop, Sr. during his life as tenant by the curtesy; that the said Skinner Wallop departed this life sometime in the year 1816; that the aforesaid William Wallop departed this life subsequent to the death of the said Elizabeth Wallop intestate leaving four children, to whom his interest in the said land descended, viz: your oratrix Sally Welburn, wife of William Welburn, your oratrix Betsy Wallop & your orators William and Rosella Wallop; that the said Peggy Watts also departed this life subsequent to the death of the said Elizabeth Wallop leaving four children, viz: John Watts, David Watts, Jr., Nancy Drummond, the wife of a certain William R. Drummond, & Betsy Wishart, formerly the wife of a certain James Wichart, and the said Betty Wishart has since died leaving two children, viz: Joshua and David Wishart; that the said Ibbey, the wife of the said John Coard, has also died since the death of the said Elizabeth Wallop, leaving six children, viz: Arthur Coard, William Coard, your oratrix Elizabeth Fletcher, wife of Thomas Fletcher, Nancy Evans, the wife of a certain John Evans, Parker Coard and Hepsey Brittingham, formerly the wife of a certain John Brittingham, and the said Parker Coard is since dead leaving one child named Ibby, and the said Hepsey Brittingham is also since dead leaving two children, Maria and William; that since the death of the said Elizabeth Wallop the aforesaid Polly Welburn has departed this life leaving four children, viz: Thomas, Mary, Skinner and John Welburn; that since the death of the said Elizabeth Wallop the aforesaid George Wallop has also departed this life leaving two children, viz: your orator Skinner Wallop and Mary Davis, formerly Mary Wallop: That since the death of the said Skinner Wallop, Sr., the aforesaid tract of land is subject to division into six parts, one of which shall be allotted to the aforesaid John Wallop, and one other share to the descendants of each of the aforesaid deceased children of the aforesaid Elizabeth Wallop, &c.3

Soon after this he married Catherine Stansberry, of Delaware, a member of the distinguished Delaware family of that name, and died November 20, 1824, having served with credit throughout the War of 1812, in which he and his first cousin once removed - Maj. John Wise -were the only representatives of the family..2 
Death*24 May 1824George died on 24 May 1824 at age 34.

Elizabeth died two years later, and while no record of a division was found, all of the Kitson land later appeared in the possession of two grandsons, Thomas Crippen Jr. & Thomas Evans.4

Anecdote*1800 For many years Thomas Evans was a county surveyor and the recordings of his meticulous work have been most helpful in this effort (Whitelaws book). Towards the end of his life he was judge of the county court for a number of years. He became somewhat involved financially before he died and his will of 1815 directed that any part of his land could be sold for debts in necessary and later in the year 436 acres where Thomas Evans lived were purchased by Bagwell Wharton.

I wish to remark that the circumstances of my son Thomas being more favorable than that of my son John, that if my son Thomas should see proper & choose to make any donation to my son John it would be gratifying. Settle the accounts between myself & Daniel (a man of color who has for many years lived with me) & permit him to have to himself his wife Mayriam, his 2 sons Richard & Daniel & his daughter Eliza at a reasonable price. A note by former Lt. Col. Cropper states: "I do hereby certify that John Gladden enlisted a a soldier in the year 1775 or the beginning of the year 1776 that he joined the American army in 1776 was taken at the battle of Germantown a prisoner and after being exchanged served as I have been told until the end of the war and hath since died.".2,3

Land bought*1807Laban (of Noah I) Belote bought land in 1807 at tract N75, Westerhouse Farm, Northampton Co, VA. Westerhouse Widgeon and his wife Nancy sold part of this tract to Laban Belote, and as previously reported he gradually bought up the interests of the Dalby heirs south of him on the bay. In 1845 following the intestate death of Belote, a survey showed 251 acres for a son Laban J. Belote. In 1910 a division of the several lands left by Laban J. Belote, this place of 303 acres went to Theodore T. Belote. In 1927 he and his wife Eleanor M. Belote sold to Edmund A. Underhill Jr. and in 1944 he and his wife Lucille C. Underhill sold to Julia W. Newton.5

Will*15 December 1836John made a will on 15 December 1836 at Accomack Co, VA. To wife Betsy Bull the land whereon I now live called Bartletts, the land which I bought of John Mason adjoining the land whereon I now live & 10 acres of wood land to be laid off out of the Monger land next to John C. Hall during her life or widowhood & then to my son Thomas Bull, but if he dies without heirs, then to my son John Bull Jr. upon his paying to my daughter Sally Mills $500. To wife 2 Negroes Leah & Bill Melson & upon her death or marriage, then to my 3 children John Bull Jr., Sally Mills & Thomas Bull. To wife ... To son Thomas Bull 2 Negroes Levin & John & ... To daughter Sally Mills $1,000, but if my Extrs. cannot raise $1,000 then she to be given Negroes that will amount in value of $1,000 & after the death of Solomon West the land whereon he lives on which I now hold a mortgage containing 10 acres & the balance of the Monger land & at her death to her children that may be then living. In case of the death of Sally Mills & her children now born & those which may be hereafter born, then to my 2 sons John Bull Jr. & Thomas Bull. To son John Bull Jr. the Joynes & Scott land adjoining him on every side & Negro Abel & my interest in Negro woman Mahala, they now being in the possession of my son John Bull Jr. The property now in the possession of William Bull & wife shall be made subject to the payment of $40 to my estate & the balance to William Bull & Susan his wife & all his children that are now born & those which may be born hereafter. The plantation whereon Elisha Bull now lives belonging to William H. B. Custis Esq. shall be carried on by my Extrs. in the same manner so long as Elisha Bull & W. H. B. Custis shall agree. Son John Bull Jr. shall charge no commission for settling my estate. Remainder to my 3 children John Bull Jr., Sally Mills & Thomas Bull. To Mary Isnard(?) $5 annually until $25 shall be paid. Son John Bull Jr. Extr., but if he dies before my estate is settled then I appoint my brother Southey Bull Sr., my son Thomas Bull & my friend James J. Ailworth Extrs. Witt: James J. Ailworth, Laban J. Gunter, Edmund Lilliston & Southey Bull Sr. Prob: The named Extr. John Bull Jr. refused to qualify & the widow relinquished her right & George P. Scarburgh & James J. Ailworth became Admrs. with Thomas R. Joynes, John B. Ailworth, William H. B. Custis & James McCollom securities.2
