Mrs. Stella Ruth Smack, 65, of Parksley, VA, wife of the late Ralph Lee Smack, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Riverside - Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. Born August 30, 1944 in Salisbury, MD she was the daughter of the late William Guy Salmon and the late Agnes White Allen. Stella was a member of the Rock Church in Melfa, VA. Survivors include her daughters; Pamela Rae Allen of Ohio, Judy Ann Gladding and Patricia Lynn Smack both of Chincoteague, and an adoptive daughter, Ann Cummings of Parksley; three sisters, Lenora Nekunas and husband, Nick, Georgiana Brown and husband, Wayne, and Julie Caulier, all of Parksley; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a special uncle, Roger Pyers, several nieces and nephews, and all who called her “Mom”. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a baby sister, Mary Anne Daisey, a grandson, Richard Lee Gladding, and a brother-in-law, Alex Caulier. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley. Interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery in Parksley. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley, VA.
