Anecdote*1635 Edward came to Virginia in the bark Thomas, Henry Taverner, Mr. in 1635. He settled in N'hamp County (then Accomack) where he built "Newport House," now called "Eyreville." At his death it was sold to Colonel William Kendall, in whose family it remained for many generations. He was a merchant. He was a member of the Virginia Company in 1620.1 
Death*before 11 January 1640/41Edward died before 11 January 1640/41 at Northampton Co, NC. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Edward Robins, merchant, was granted to Obedience Robins. A certificate was granted to the orphans of Mr. Edward Robins for transportation of Edward Robins, Thomas Joyner, Olliver, Lawrence Glanfeild, Nicholas Raynehard, Abraham Boothes, and Anthony James. Richard Robins, Gentleman, of Longuckbbye in the County of Northampton claimed to be the brother of Edward Robins, dec'd, of Virginia and of Obedience Robins, and gave power of attorney to his sister-in-law Jane Puddington (wife of George in Virginia). Elizabeth is the daughter of Edward Robins, dec'd. 1645-51, p. 224, refers to the will (not found) of Capt. John Howe dec'd whose 1,000 acre was sold about 1638 to pay his debts to Nathaniel Littleton and since conveyed to Edward Robins, merchant, which land descended from Edward to his two daughters Rachel Robins, who married Richard Beard, and to Elizabeth Robins, who married William Burgess..2

Biography*According to an interview with her by M.K. Miles & Mason Annis, Jackie, as she likes to be called, went to college in Wilmington and worked for Marjorie Speakman in her dress shop near the Dupont Hotel. Marjorie was of the DuPont family and quite well off. Marjorie paid the hospital bills of $40,000 when Jackie's first child was born premature. She weighed only 3 lbs and stayed in the hospital 5 months.

Born on November 27, 1931 in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of the late Russell Mears and Essie Barnes Mears. He was a graduate of Parksley High School; retired parts manager for Central Implement Company in Snow Hill, MD; a member of Grace United Methodist Church; and served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. Kenny liked to collect historical documents and was an avid history buff. sley, and Raymond Taylor and wife Sally of Marion, NC; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Taylor of Parksley; a sister, Evelyn M. Hickman of Hallwood, VA ; a brother, Robert Mears and wife Roberta of Melbourne Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Kevin East and wife Lucy, Raymond E. Taylor, Jr. and wife Dreama, Kimberly Ann Lister and husban d David, Joseph T. Taylor, and Christina T. Parker and husband Jeff; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Milton Frederick "Freddy" Taylor, and a grandson, Michael Eugene East. Services were conducted on June 26, 2004 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. G. Wayne Parsley officiating. Interment in the Groton's Cemetery in Hallwood..
