Birth*circa 1745James was born circa 1745 at England.1 
Anecdote*1767 He was James Johnson, alisa Ingram, of St. Giles in the Fields, Middlesex, who was a laborer who had been convicted of theft at London's Old Bailey Court on 15-17 Jan 1767, transported to Prince George's Co, MD, where he was employeed as a school master, ran away to the Eastern Shore and after his marriage moved from Accomack County to Southampton County and then to North Carolina. He was a member of the North Carolina Provincial Congress in Nov 1776, commissioned as a lieutenant colonel of the 8th North Carolina Regiment on 26 Nov 1776, but resigned on 8 Jul 1777 after his conviction in England became known and then moved to Richmond Co, GA, where he was lieutenant colonel of militia but then commanded a troop of loyalist cavalry for which he was attainted by the Georgia Assembly, fled to South Carolina and later to the Bahama Islands and eventually returned to Georgia.1

In 1786, Jesse & Rachel Taylor sold 37A to Jabez Pitt (Jr.) In 1794, Jabez Pitt (Jr.) and his wife, Hannah, sold 139 acres of A169 to Walter Bayne, which included a parcel from A170. A170 (Whitelaw): In 1757, Samuel Feddeman sold 300A to Jabez Pitt (Sr). Jabez Pitt (Sr) left this 300A to his son John and daughter Esther, with their brother to watch over it until they came of age. In 1780, Jabez (Jr) deeded to his sister, Esther and she, in turn deeded it back to him. In 1793, Jabez (Jr) & wife Hannah, sold 149A of A170 to William Marshall and 149A to Samuel Wilson Pitt of Dorcester County.

The said Bayly refuses to deliver the remainder of his mother's estate and has given away or hidden a number of articles such as bed curtains, clothes, etc. The said Bayly claims that his mother gave most of her possessions to him in her lifetime.1

The rest of my estate I give to the children of my brothers John and Caleb Savage and the children of Johannes Johnson. I appoint my brother Preeson Savage executor. Savage my plantation on Occahannock Creek, subjecting the said land to the payment of two hundred pounds in manner hereafter directed also to find my daughter Peggy a home as long as she lives single. I give unto my son Preeson Savage if he should live to lawful age, part of my plantation on Nassawadox Creek bounded on the creek and running up to the deep branch with a slope of timber land over the neck road bounded on the west by Sarah W. Harmanson, north by Thomas James and east by the nearest part of my cleared land and to keep that width from the road across the swamp to where Thomas James' line. I give to my son Caleb Savage if he should live to lawful age the remainder of my plantation on Nassawadox Creek. Should either of my sons Preeson or Caleb die before they arrive at age for my son Robert to have that part of my land willed to them. I give to my daughter Peggy Savage. I give to my daughter Betsey Savage. I give to my daughter Polly Savage. I appoint my brother Preeson Savage, executor. Signed, Caleb Savage. Witnesses: Jno Tankard and Hez Pitts.
