Obituary - Mother's*30 March 1906Arthur Downing Henderson was named in his mother's obituary on 30 March 1906 at Northampton Co, VA. The obituary of Nannie Henderson, widow of Dr. Nathaniel P. Henderson, named 4 surviving children as Dr. John M. Henderson of Williamsburg, Messrs. Arthur and Upshur and Miss Louise Henderson of this county.5 
Death*2 October 1964Arthur died on 2 October 1964 at Franktown, Northampton Co, VA. Mr. Arthur Nathaniel Henderson, 69, died at his home near Franktown last Friday, October 2nd, following a brief illness. A funeral service was conducted Sunday afternoon at the family cemetery on the Henderson farm, by the Rev. Milford Rollins, of Franktown Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Messrs. Ronald Bagwell, Richard Floyd, Howard H. Adams, Thornton Gibbs, Willard Henry and Dr. E.M. Henderson. A native of Northampton County, the son of Arthur Downing Henderson and the late Margaret Mapp Henderson, Mr. Henderson was a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife Mrs. Elizabeth Bagwell Henderson, four sons, Messrs. Edward D. Henderson of Arlington, Thomas J. Henderson of Raleigh, NC, Charles W. Henderson of Portsmouth and Robert L. Henderson of Painter, three daughters Mrs. F.R. Etheridge and Mrs. Paul Singletary of Washington, DC and Mrs. William Snyder of Silver Spring, MD, two sisters, Miss Sue Henderson of Franktown and Mrs. William F. Neill of Bladensburg, MD and seven grandchildren..1 
Burial*Arthur was buried at Willow Grove, Northampton Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as Arthur D. Henderson (husband of Margaret), 1870-1964.2

Death*25 September 1905Alfred died on 25 September 1905 at Accomack Co, VA, at age 46. Capt. A. Brown LeCato, who was a native of this county, and a nephew of the late Senator Geo. W. LaCato, and who for many years was a trusted officer in the employ of the Merritt Wrecking Co., died at St. Christopher's Hospital to which he was carried by Dr. J.H. Ayres, in Norfolk, on Monday last, from a disease which he contacted during the past springe on the Venezuelean coast while engaged in hauling a large steamer off the rocks. Capt. LeCato was about 46 years of age, and leaves a widow and three daughters. There remains were brought to this county and buried on Wednesday at the old homestead near Wachapreague. Capt. LeCato was well-known and very popular, especially in shipping circles, and as a token of respect, all the ships in Norfolk harbor flew their flages at half-mast upon hearing of his death..3,2 
Burial*Alfred was buried at Quinby Cemetery, Accomack Co, VA.3

It was in this year that John and Bridget Burton deeded a part of this tract to Littleton, Peggy, Tully and Michael Savage, the children of John Savage (N52G), deceased, and the widow Delither joined in the deed so far as her dower interest was concerned. John Savage Sr. had bought from Burton but had died before the deed was prepared. In 1791, Tully Savage having disappeared from the record, Golding and Peggy Ward and Littleton and Elizabeth Savage deeded their interests to Michael Savage. In 1830 after the death of Michael a survey for the heirs showed 204 1/2 acres.3

Chancery suit*1797He was named in a chancery suit in 1797 at Accomack Co, VA. Severin East, Southy East and Richard East brought a chancery suit against Mary East, Asa East, Sally East and Nehemiah East. The dispute was over a tract of land in St. George Parish, Accomack County containing about three acres being the land which a certain Southy East Senior deceased resided on during his lifetime and devised to William East who died intestate and without issue in 1796 leaving both the plaintiffs and the defendants who were his siblings of the whole blood as his next of kin (there being no mother living). Since the defendants were minors, under the age of 21, they could not consent to the sale without a decree from the chancery court. William Gibb acted as guardian for the minor children. A summons was issued which ordered the defendants to appear in court on 12 March 1797.2

East, Severn East and Mary Bloxom, wife of Elijah Bloxom, are the only heirs at law of Southy East and Nehemiah Walker dec'd, who were in the Army of the Rev. from Virginia. Victor S. Dunn found that Southy’s heirs received a military certificate for his service. A note dated 27 May 1831 indicates he was allowed land for three years’ service as a seaman in the Virginia State Navy. A statement dated 25 June 1832 indicates that William East, Asia East, Richard East, Sarah East and Nehemiah East children and devisees of South East deceased formerly a soldier in the Revolutionary War are dead and that each died intestate, unmarried and without issue and that Severn East, Southy East and Mary Bloxom, wife of Elijah Bloxom are the only heirs at law and devisees of said Southy East now living with said Severn, Southy and Mary as the only heirs of the deceased children and also of the widow of Southy [not named] who also died intestate. Immediately below this is a statement indicating that on 29 June 1832, the Accomack County court certified that Nehemiah Walker formerly a solder in the Revolutionary War died intestate and that no will of the said Nehemiah Walker was ever proven or offered for probate.6,7
