Born in Guilford, VA on July 27, 1922, he was the son of the late William Harrison Annis and the late Pearlie Thornes Annis. Mason was a United States Navy Veteran, serving in WWII. He is survived by a niece, Minnie Ward and her husband Freddie of Guilford, VA. Mason was pre-deceased by three brothers, Buddy Annis, Melvin Annis and Vinston Annis as well as two sisters, Margurite Annis and Alma Annis. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the graveside of the Parksley Cemetery in Parksley with Pastor Freddie Ward officiating.

Honorary pallbearers included: Carol Hart, Vincent Young, Milton Russell, Bud Russell, Tully Shrieves, Carol Thornes, Charlie Justis, Vernon Matthews, Ernest Coard, Edward Taylor, Frank Hartman, Ollie Young, Paige Thornes, Roland Northam, Walter Budd, Thomas Hickman, James M. Justis, Albert Dobson, Lewis Bundick,and Carol Wessells. Mrs. Thornes, born at Hopkins April 24, 1883 was the daughter of the late William and Virginia Russell and the wife of the late William Riley Thornes. She is survived by two children: Bentley Thornes and Mrs. Albert ___ger of Greenbush, three sisters Mrs. John Watkinson, Mrs. ___ Hayden and Mrs. Carrie Taylor of Greenbush; one brother Charles F. Russell of Accomac, __ grandchildren, Doris Marie __ Beatrice Alberta of Greenbush, Mrs. Jay Hargis of Wachapreague, Carroll L. Thornes of Rescue, VA, John Riley Thornes in U.S. Air Force and Mary Susan Thornes, of Greenbush; and five great-grandchildren. The deceased had been an active member of the Greenbush church and had a host of friends, which was shown by the numerus floral tributes..1
