Born May 2, 1922 in Sanford, VA, he was the son of the late Herman Onley and the late Evelyn Linton Onley. Mr. Onley was a United States Navy Veteran. He was the owner of the former J.F. Onley Building Supply in Oak Hall. Mr. Onley is survived by his companion, Jackie Onley of Hallwood; a daughter, Mary Evelyn Durham of Pocomoke City, MD; a son, Malcom James Onley of Sutherland, VA; a step-daughter, Joan Fitchett; and his grandchildren; Troy, Duane, Della Rae, and Dana. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine and his sister, Lena Mister. Funeral services and in interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.

Surviving are her husband, Mr. Howard Drewer; one son, Carlton Drewer; her mother, Mrs. Amanda Miles, all of Crisfield, and a sister, Mrs. James T. Weaver, of Saxis..2

Mary Elizabeth Drewer, 92, of Crisfield, died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Alice Byrd Tawes Rehabilitation Center in Crisfield. Born in Craddockville, Virginia on July 10, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Madeline West Truitt. Her husband, Carlton Drewer, died June 8, 2004. She was retired from Rubberset Division of Sherwin Williams, Crisfield, MD. She was previously employed at the old Crisfield Shirt Factory. She loved showering her family and friends with baked goodies, especially during the holidays, and mowing her lawn on her riding lawn mower. Most of all, she was a wonderful Mom, Grandmom, Great-Grandmom, Sister, and a friend to many. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Drewer Tarr and husband Rudy of Suffolk, Va; her son, Donnie Drewer and wife Betsy of Delmar, MD; five grandchildren, Bruce Sterling and wife Sandy of Pungoteague, VA, Steve Sterling and wife Trish of Chesapeake, VA, Rick Sterling and wife Traci of Blacksburg, VA, Dr. Beth Drewer and friend Alex McRae of Salisbury, MD, and Amanda Raschka and husband Matt of Ellicott City, MD; six great grandchildren, Sam Sterling, Carlton Sterling, Kyle Sterling, Eli Sterling, Drew Raschka and Anna Raschka; a brother Eddie Truitt and wife Linda Sue of Pungoteague, VA; her sister-in-law, June Drewer of Crisfield; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a great- grandson, Troy Mason Sterling. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 2 PM at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Crisfield, MD where friends may call one hour prior to service. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park near Crisfield.

Biography*There were two contempory Elizabeth Martins on Saxis in the 1900 Census. One was listed on p. 69B, family #393, between James Ellis and Columbus Linton, as "Elizabeth" Martin, female head of household, age 65, born Jan 1835, widowed, and having had 3 children of which 3 were living. She was living alone. The second was listed on p. 72B, family #458, between William Flueharty and William Linton, as "Lessie" Martin, female head of household, age 65, born Dec 1834, widowed, and having had 5 children of which 4 were living. She had a daughter Mary Martin living with her who was age 25, born May 1875, single, and a dress maker. The second one is believed to be Elizabeth Amanda Phillips who married William H. Martin in 1861, as the other Elizabeth Martin had a known daughter Sarah named in the 1870 census.

Milt was born and raised in Saxis, VA, graduated from Randolph Macon College and received his masters degree from the University of Virginia. Milt was head football coach and athletic director at the College of William & Mary from 1957 to 1963 before moving his family to Arlington. His banking career spanned several decades, culminating in his position as President and CEO of First American Bank of Virginia. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Susie" Drewer; and a son, William (Sharon) Drewer of Arlington, VA. Survivors include his companion, Liz Hopwood of Arlington, VA; sons, Milton L. (Ellie) Drewer, III of Bluffton, SC and Alan (Lora) Drewer of Oak Hill VA; and daughter, Carol Mortensen of Wilmington, NC. Milt is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, October 22, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Walker Chapel United Methodist Church, 4102 North Glebe Road, Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Milt's name to the William & Mary Tribe Club www.wm.edu/giving/designate/tribe or Tribe Club-Football, P.O. Box 399, Wiliiamsburg, VA 23187. Because William & Mary Athletics receives no state money, support is essential to student athletes by funding athletic scholarships and athletic facilities.
