Anecdote*26 June 1809 On 26 Jun 1809 an account of the sales, audit and settlement of the estate of Esther Mason, deceased, was returned by Bagwell Mason and recorded (Orders 1807 - 1809, p. 322). On the same date, a deed of conveyance was also recorded, from Bagwell Mason "of the county of Accomack in Virginia" to Ayres Mason, for 3 acres for 51 pounds (Deeds 1807 - 1810, p. 292). The plot was bordered on the southwest by the lands of the said Ayres Mason, northeast by John Laws, and south east by Robert Savage. The deed was witnessed by Samuel Crippen and George Warner, Junr. Bagwell Mason signed the deed alone, without a wife's co signature.
Census head*1810Bagwell was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1810 at Worcester Co, MD. Bagwell Mason was recorded as head of a household in Worcester County, Maryland, in 1810, aged 26 to 45 years (obviously he was only 22 years of age in 1810). There were two children in his household, a male under 10 years and a female under 10, suggesting he had married a widow with two young children..
Land sold*1 December 1812Bagwell sold land on 1 December 1812 at Accomack Co, VA. It is apparent that Bagwell Mason was married when his mother's estate was administered to him on 26 December 1808 and when he sold his father's land to his cousin, Ayres Mason, on 26 June 1809. Since this deed did not give therefore a clear title, another deed was recorded on 1 December 1812 (Deeds 1812 - 1815, p.32). This deed was from Bagwell Mason and wife Elizabeth (county and state of residence not given) to Ayres Mason, for 3 acres (the same land) for $170. It was signed by both Bagwell Mason and Betsy Mason..
Census head1820Bagwell was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1820 at Worcester Co, MD. He was again listed as 26 to 45 years by the Worcester County census of 1820. He then had a male under 10 years in his household and two females under 10 years. His wife was over 45. He was not listed in either Accomack County or Worcester County in 1830.     .
Marriagecirca 1821He married Nancy B. Butler circa 1821.2
Anecdote1830 Worcester County deeds have been searched from 1800 to 1834 for a Bagwell Mason buying or selling land or personal property in Maryland. His name does not appear in these records. Neither does his name appear in the Worcester County Index to Estates, 1742 - 1908. Family records give the information that Bagwell A. Mason left Worcester County, Maryland, soon after the death of his first wife, apparently in late 1820. He married (2) circa 1821, Nancy B. Butler (1801 - 1863). She was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He and his family moved first to Ohio and then to Streator, Illinois, where he is buried with his second wife.
Death*22 August 1853Bagwell died on 22 August 1853 at Streator, IL, at age 65.2
Burial*His body was interred at Streator, IL.2

Marriage*31 December 1835He married Nancy Evans, daughter of David Evans and Nancy Greer, on 31 December 1835 at Clinton Co, OH.1,2
Death*September 1846Henry died in September 1846. Henry and Nancy are two of three people involved in a tragic circumstance in 1846, Nancy’s father David being the third. My uncle, Jim Evans, explained it to me in December 2008, at his 90th birthday celebration. All three of them died of what was known as “milk sickness” in September 1846. It was actually secondary poisoning that came from livestock eating snakeroot. Abraham Lincoln’s mother died at nearly the same time from milk sickness. David Evans’ widow, Nancy Greer, is found with her two unmarried daughters, Mary and Louise, on the 1850 census, along with the orphaned David H (Henry?) Mason. Nancy Greer died in December 1860, but the two unmarried daughters raised David and stayed with him after he married Lorette L (?). They are on the federal census through 1910 and end up in Ward 25, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. They had 13 children. Offered by Andy Evans on 1 Feb 2009..2

To the worshipful justices of the County of Accomack, sitting in chancery. Humbly complaining show unto your worships your orator and oratrix, William T. Gardner and Polly Gardner his wife, that on or about [blank] day of [blank] in the year of 1841 Southy W. And you orator and oratrix further show, that the said testator in his last will and testament merely appointed a certain William Walston executor, and died intestate as to his property, all of which will more fully appear by reference to the said will of record in the clerk's office. And your orator and oratrix further show that at the death of the said Bull he had the following slaves, viz; Ibby, John and Moses. And you orator and oratrix further show that the said Bull deceased at the time of his death left as his lawfull heirs, on whom the possession of his property was cast, the following persons, his widow Polly (who afterward intermarried with your orator, William T.
