Sarah Scott was the security on the M.L.B. of William W. Scott and Nancy Scott. (NOTE: The proof that Nancy was the daughter of George (of Baily) Scott and his wife Sarah Kemp is based on the assumption that this Sarah Scott was the mother of Nancy Scott. However, Sarah Scott, who outlived Nancy, did not name Nancy's children in her will dated 18 Jan 1839, but her granddaughter Elizabeth A. Dix witnessed her will, and Sarah's son George, who also outlived Nancy, did not name Nancy's children in his will, which seems odd since he did name his deceased brother Thomas' children. It has been suggested that Nancy Scott was the daughter of Benjamin Scott and his wife Sally Nottingham, but after Benjamin Scott died without a will his land was divided between his son Benjamin N. Scott, his daughter Elizabeth N. Scott and his grandson John T.P. Scott, a grandson, the son of his dec'd son John N. Scott, without any mention of a daughter Nancy 'Annie' Scott.)4
