Land sold*1804William sold land in 1804 at Accomack Co, VA. According to Whitelaw, it was in this year that William Wise sold his part as 124 acres by survey to John Wise V, who also acquired his borther Solomons' part, althought a deed for such a sale was not found. This part is the location of Whitelaw's A75D, known as Oatlands. The smaller part of the house may go back farther, but the larger section probably was built by William Wise after his inheritance and his father's death in 1782. The interior has wainscoting, but no special features. The restoration was nicely done and it is now a very attractive property..6

Land inherited*1766She inherited land in 1766 at tract A121, Modest Town, Acc Co, VA. In 1744 Thomas Bennett and his wife Lacy sold his 163 acres to Thomas Evans, who in 1751 left his 191 acres to his son Isaiah. In 1754 he (wife Elizabeth) left to his second son Zerubbabell, who in 1766 left to his brother Isaiah, and in 1790 he left to his sister Sarah and her husband William Wise. Sarah survived her husband and appeared as the owner for several years. Much of the land later passed into Rew hands, and included the home of the late Alfred J. Rew on the east side of the highway.4
