His son, also Jacob, studied medicine and was wounded at the Battle of Trenton during the American Revloution. After the war he was ordained in the Dutch Reformed Church and moved to Virginia where he continued to practice medicine and minister to two congregations. His son Obadiah was a lawyer and a Presbyterian minister, living at different times in Washington, Pennsylvania, Steubenville, Ohio, and Nashville, TN.1
