According to Batchelder, William Mister inherited a one-third share of his father's land on Smith's Island, but sold it to his brother Marmaduke Mister and probably move off the island.5 
Land bought*2 November 1769He bought land on 2 November 1769 at tract A75, South Side of Chessconessex Creek, Accomack Co, VA. William Crowson with wife Bridget acknowledged a deed to William Mister. Whitelaw shows that in 1762 Smith and Sophia Snead sold 207 acres of the Johannis Wise part of this tract to William Crowson and seven years later (1769) he and his wife Bridget resold to William Mister.6,7
