Birth*circa 1802Thomas was born circa 1802 at Accomack Co, VA.2
Anecdote* Lacking more direct proof the assumption that Thomas J. Bradford was a son of Abel (of Zephaniah) and Sally Bradford is based on the fact that Nathaniel J. Bradford was named to settle his estate and Fisher W. Bradford was named one of the securities. The tradition of the times was that a son, brother or uncle would be named administrator and other sons, brothers or uncles would be among the securities. In this case Fisher W. Bradford (a security) was shown as a son of Abel & Sally Bradford on his 2nd marriage in 1877, therefore it is assumed that he and Nathaniel J. Bradford (the administrator) were brothers of Thomas J. Bradford.1
Marriage*18 February 1833He married Ann 'Nancy' D. Watson, daughter of William Watson, on 18 February 1833 at Accomack Co, VA. John Z. Johnson was the security on the M.L.B. of Thomas J. Bradford and Ann D. Watson of William..3

The deed was signed by Thos. J. Bradford (seal) and An Bradford (seal). It was presented to the court by Justices of Peace Edward S. Bayly and Jno. C. Wise.4
Census head*1850Thomas was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Thos. J. Bradford the head of HH#815, a 48 year old farmer. Land bought*9 March 1855He bought land on 9 March 1855 at Craddockville, St. George Parish, Accomack Co, VA. Thos. J. Bradford, Isaac Wright & James C. Doughty, Trustees for the Methodist Church South, brought 1/4 acre of land near Craddockville for $1 from Erastus A. Kellam, where the Methodist Church South now stands, to build or repair a house or houses for public worship. It was bounded on the Northwest by the Pungoteague Public Road an on the south by the Cross Road, containing 20 yards each way upon which the Methodist Church South now stands. (NOTE: According to Kirk Mariner's Revival's Children, when Erastus Kellam deeded the church lot to the denomination the building already stood on it, and the congression had already seceded to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.)5,6
Death*before 26 April 1858He died before 26 April 1858 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Thomas J. Bradford was granted to Nathaniel J. Bradford, widow relinquishing, with Jonathan Smith, Fisher Bradford & John S. Bundick securities on a $2,000 bond.1
Est settm't*30 December 1861His estate was settled on 30 December 1861 at Accomack Co, VA. The balance due the estate of Thomas J. Bradford dec'd, Nathaniel J. Wallace, Wm. T. Bradford and Alex Gaddep. The estate audit was submitted on 10 May 1861 by Mease Smith and recorded on 24 May 1861.
