Birth*1827Frances was born in 1827 at Accomack Co, VA.1
Will - Father's*15 July 1846Frances was named in her father's will on 15 July 1846 at Accomack Co, VA. In his will George Scherer gave son George N. Bell … & to my daughter Charlotte Ann Bell … Bonds & notes to be held for the support of my 2 youngest children, Frances E. Scherer & Samuel Scherer. At the death of my mother, I am entitled to a part of a lot in Richmond & some Negroes, which is to be for the benefit of my daughter Frances E. Scherer (as long as she lives single) & my son Samuel Scherer during his minority & when Samuel becomes of age, the lot & Negroes sold & proceeds to my daughter Charlotte Ann Bell, George N. George N. Scherer, Frances E. Scherer &Samuel Scherer are under age. It is with reluctance that I am compelled to disinherit & discard my undutiful daughter Margaret who married contrary to my wish & advice to a worthless & infamous character who has bought her to want & suffer & who would gamble & drink up all I have & she not benefit & if I was to give her anything he or his creditors would devise some scheme to get it. It is my wish that she nor the children she may have, nor the infamous vagrant she has married shall ever own, possess, heir or in any way enjoy any portion of property I now have or may hereafter be possess of, nor heir anything that I have given my other children. Therefore I disinherit my daughter & any children she may have because she has married an infamous character that is not qualified to attend to any genteel business & devotes his whole time to idleness, drunkenness & gambling. Son George N. Scherer, James A. Bell or my relation John S. Tankard Extrs. Either one or the whole should act. Also one of them to act as guardian to Frances E. Will - Father's*15 July 1846Mary was named in her father's will on 15 July 1846 at Accomack Co, VA. In his will George Scherer gave son George N. Scherer my library of medical & other books, my medicine shop ... surgical instruments & every article appertaining to my medical apparatus & my ... such as he can use & what he cannot use to my son Samuel Scherer. I have educated my son George N. Scherer & given him the necessary medicine &c to commence the practice of medicine - I shall not give more. To James A. Scherer, Mary H. Jarvis, Frances E. Scherer & Samuel Scherer, the Negroes to choose their masters & not be sold from Richmond or its vicinity as I feel unwilling to part man & wife & children. Scherer & Samuel Scherer during their minority. Witt: Phillip B. Tankard, Edward L. Bayly & Ephraim Tipton.4
