Land left*1837He left land in 1837 at tract A43, Bradford Neck, Accomack Co, VA. After the death of Littleton LeCato in 1837, three of his sons William R. with wife Jane, Littleton with his wife Mary and John LeCato deeded their interests to a fourth son Nathaniel B. LeCato. In 1874 he made a deed of gift of the buildings and certain lands adjacent to a son Littleton T. LeCato and his wife Cordelia E. for their lives, and then the title was to pass to their children, who there were Bettie S., Edwin H., George H., Margaret E., Mary M., Susan Cordelia, and Eva Rogers. Another daughter Emma Walter was born later. In 1917 the rest of the LeCato heirs deeded the dwelling and adjacent acreage to Charles D. Eichelberger, who had married Emma Walter LeCato and it has since gone out of the family to other owners.5 
Burial*Littleton was buried at Quinby Cemetery, Accomack Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as Littleton LeCato, husband of Esther, 21 Mar 1773 - 23 Oct 1837. (NOTE: Stone is badly worn.)2

Land inherited*1792She inherited land in 1792 at tract A43, Bradford's Neck, Accomack Co, VA. In 1790 Zephaniah died leaving a widow Elizabeth and five children. Two years later (1792) the land was surveyed for a division and found to contain 430 acres of upland and 108 acres of marsh; it was divided among the five children by east-to-west lines, Lot No. 1 being the one next to Upshur. The recipients in order were: Mary, Esther, Jane, Abel and Elizabeth. Mary's part included the site of the (1950) residence of James B. King, together with the land across the neck road to the creek, and Esther received the part with the home buildings, and was the only part traced further by Whitelaw.3

Will - Father-in-law*27 October 1819William was named in his father-in-law's will on 27 October 1819 at Northampton Co, VA. In his will Joshua Turner loaned wife Bridget the land on which I reside during her life or widowhood with the privilege of taking necessary firewood from off the land I bought of William Underhill. I also lend to my said wife my Negroes Zadock, Tamer, Nelly & George. I give to my grand daughter Catherine Henderson five hundred dollars. I give to my daughter Peggy Turner five hundred dollars. I give to the children of my daughter Zillar five hundred dollars to be divided equally amongst them. I give to the children of my daughter Nancy five hundred dollars to be divided equally amongst them. It is my will and desire that all the land I bought of Wm Underhill except that part thereof which I have heretofor conveyed to my son Nathaniel & all the land I bought of Severn Groten's heirs, be rented out by my executors during the life or widowhood of my said wife. At the death or marriage of my said wife it is my will that my executors should sell the said two tracts or parcels of land to be divided amongst my grandchildren to wit one fifth part to my grand daughter Catherine Henderson, one fifth part to my daughter Peggy Turner, one fifth part to be equally divided among the children of my daughter Zilla, one fifth part to be equally divided among the children of my daughter Nancy & one fifth part to be equally divided among the children of Elizabeth Kellum. I give to my grand son Joshua Turner of John, one hundred dollars to be paid to him by my executors when he arrives at the age of twenty one years. (NOTE: This was Joshua Brazier Turner (1807-1860), the son of his daughter Peggy (588) Turner, who had married John Turner (1768-1818), the son of John Furbush Turner (1735-1803).) I give to my son Nathaniel Turner. I do hereby direct that the whole of my estate not herein before disposed of be sold by my executor. I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Nathaniel & my friend Wm Henderson executors. Signed, Joshua Turner. Witnesses: Jno Addison, Lewis R. Matthews and Joshua Wyatt. Codicil: Having heretofore by my said last will and testament given to the children of Elizabeth Kellum a certain portion of my estate Do now direct that in case said children should die before they arrive to the age of twenty one years that that part of said legacies not hereinafter curtailed be equally divided among all my surviving grand children. I do hereby direct that any sum of money which Wm Henderson & Thos Henderson may be compelled to pay as security for Saml Kellum not exceeding one hundred and eighty dollars each be paid to the said Wm & Thos Henderson out of the legacies given to the children of Elizabeth Kellum.2 
Land cause*9 September 1822He was named in a land cause on 9 September 1822 at Northampton Co, VA. The suit for sale and division of land was between Read, et ux, et al vs. N.B. Turner and Nancy, his wife. That a certain Tabby Wainhouse(?) being seized in fee of and in a certain piece or parcel of land situate in this County on Occohannock Creek, containing 70 acres, more or less, adjoining the lands of Golden Ward's heirs and James Turner: That the said Tabby intermarried with a certain Joshua Turner, late of this county, by whom she had issue, to-wit: Zilla, Comfort, Peggy, Nancy and Nathaniel Turner. That the said Tabby departed this life on or about the __ day of ___ 1814, leaving her said husband then living and the following children and grandchildren, to-wit: Nancy, wife of Edmond Read, Peggy and Nathaniel, children; Catharine, wife of William Henderson and only issue of Comfort; George L.E. Tankard, Fanny, Mary and Hannah Tankard and Peggy Wyatt, wife of William Wyatt, children of Zilla and grandchildren of the said Tabby; Ann and George Lewer, only children of Hannah Lever dec'd, formerly Hannah Tankard, to which said children and grandchildren the aforesaid land described (subject to the right of the said Joshua Turner as tenant by the curtesy) ------ that the said Joshua Turner, the tenant by the curtsey as aforesaid, departed this life on or about 4 September 1821, upon which event your orators and oratrixes became entitled to enter and take possession of the said land &c. ------- 9 September 1822. On 9 August 1824 the plaintiffs filed a new bill as follows: The bill of complaint of Edmund Read and Nancy, his wife, William Henderson and Catharine, his wife, William Wyatt and Peggy, his wife, George L.E. Tankard, Peggy Turner, William Pettit and Fanny, his wife, formerly Fanny Tankard, Mary Tankard, Anne Lewer and George Lewer, infants, by George L. Tankard, their next friend (guardian) humbly showath unto your worships: That a certain Tabitha Turner departed this life in or about the year 1812, being at the time seized in fee simple of a tract of land containing, by estimation 96 acres, situate on Occohannock Creek in this County, adjoining the lands of James S. Turner and others, and subject to a life estate in a certain Joshua Turner as tenant by the curtesy. That the said Joshua Turner departed this life sometime in the year 1821, and upon his death your orators and oratrixes are advised that the said tract of land became subject to division among the heirs at law of the said Tabitha Turner. That the following persons are the heirs at law of the said Tabitha Turner, viz: Your oratrix Nancy B. Read, her daughter; Margaret Turner, her daughter; your oratrix Catharine Henderson, her granddaughter, being the only child of her dec'd daughter, Sally Michael, formerly Sally Turner; also your oratrix Margaret Wyatt, the wife of William Wyatt, George L. Tankard, Fanny Pettit, formerly Fanny Tankard, Mary Tankard and George and Ann Lewer, the only children of Hannah Lewer, formerly Hannah Tankard, the said Margaret, George L., Fanny, Mary and Hannah Tankard being the only children of Zilla Tankard, formerly Zilla Turner, a daughter of the said Tabitha Turner. What I have given to my wife she is to give to Mary & Arelius, provided she stands to this will & if she should fly from this will, then Mary & Arelius should not have one cent of the $500 nor one cent from her dower at her death, but to my sons William, Thomas & Arthur & my daughters Evyline, Catharine, Eliza & Lucinda. To son Thomas $600. To son Arthur $1,000. To son John $100. To son William $200. To daughter Catharine $700. To daughter Evyline $600. To daughter Eliza $800. To daughter Lucinda $800.
